Who Are We

Simon Plosker, Managing Editor

With overall responsibility for HonestReporting’s content and output, Simon joined the HonestReporting team in November 2005 following several years working in a variety of non-profit organizations, including the Jewish Agency and the Board of Deputies of British Jews prior to immigrating to Israel in 2001 from London.

In Israel, Simon has worked for BICOM and as Managing Editor of NGO Monitor as well as serving for a short period in the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit where he continues to perform reserve duty. Simon has been published in the Jerusalem Post, YNet News, The Times of Israel, The Commentator, The Algemeiner, and has appeared on a variety of media outlets including BBC World Service, Sky News, Revelation TV and Israel Broadcasting Authority English News to name but a few.

Simon has a BSoc.Sc in International Studies and Political Science from the University of Birmingham and a MSc in History of International Relations from the London School of Economics.

 

Yarden Frankl, Special Projects Producer

Yarden produces in-depth analyses, short videos, online classes, and other special projects for HonestReporting. He moved to Israel from Potomac, Maryland and has lived in Neve Daniel in Gush Etzion since 2005. He previously worked as a lobbyist for the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), as a legislative aid on Capitol Hill, and in a variety of Internet writing positions. Yarden has a Bachelors in International Relations from Colgate University and a Masters in National Security Studies from Georgetown University.

 

Pesach Benson, Blog Editor, Senior Media Researcher and Analyst

Pesach joined HonestReporting’s staff in 2001. Before moving to Israel in 1995, he worked as a reporter for the Baltimore Jewish Times. Pesach has a B.A. in political science from the University of Maryland-Baltimore County, and was executive editor of the campus newspaper.

 

Alex Margolin, Social Media Editor

Alex is in charge of HR’s Internet strategy and oversees HR’s accounts on various social media platforms. His experience in social media activism on Israel’s behalf began in 2002 with a project called Turning the Tide, which took advantage of the open platform on the first political social networks, such as Indymedia, to post pro-Israel material. Alex has also worked at NGO Monitor and as a copywriter at JerusalemCom Public Relations. Before moving to Israel, Alex studied journalism at Northeastern University.
