BBC Airbrushes Atzmon’s Anti-Semitism

October 15, 2012 15:50 by

Why did the BBC give a platform to an anti-Semite? On 14 October, the BBC World Service, in a discussion on the links between music and politics, interviewed Gilad Atzmon, a studio guest described as an

acclaimed and controversial jazz saxophonist… a London-based Israeli jazz man… whose political criticism of Zionism and the Israeli state has made him many enemies.

But as is so often the case with the BBC, a piece of vital context has been omitted – Gilad Atzmon is a dye-in-the-wool anti-Semite.

And, in this case, the BBC has no excuse whatsoever for confusing criticism of Zionism or Israel with actual Jew-hatred. For Gilad Atzmon’s Holocaust denial and support for anti-Semitic conspiracy theories have been well-documented. Indeed, some of his “many enemies” include some of the most rabid anti-Israel agitators on the fringe left who have found Atzmon’s beliefs to be beyond the pale even for them.

Here are some of Atzmon’s views, which can be viewed in more detail here:

  • Jews were responsible for their persecution by the Nazis
  • Burning synagogues is a “rational act”
  • Jews try to control the world, as predicted by the Protocols of the Elders of Zion
  • Jews are inhuman and they are destroying the planet
  • Jews caused the Credit Crunch
  • The history of the Holocaust is questionable and is used to conceal plots by Zionists and Neocons
  • Israel is worse than the Nazis

It’s one thing to broadcast Atzmon’s music. It’s quite another to give him a platform to legitimize his appalling views. In a discussion concerning the links between music and politics, surely the BBC presenter Julian Woricker could have challenged Atzmon?

(Click below to listen to the full interview.)

As one blogger at Harry’s Place put it:

What was really unpleasant about this interview, and the conversation with other guests which followed, was the apparent complete unconcern felt about Atzmon’s foul views.  Woricker claimed to have read a good deal about him, but seemed unperturbed by what he had learnt; he made approving noises when Atzmon claimed that no one could say he had got his facts wrong, and expressed apparent incredulous disbelief at the thought anyone could think his guest a racist or anti-Semite.

The BBC is prepared to fete a man who has been disowned by even the most vicious anti-Zionist activists who see his anti-Semitism as discrediting the Palestinian cause.

Just how far is the BBC prepared to go to promote its institutional bias and hatred towards Israel?

The BBC is mere weeks away from publishing holocaust denial under its own name and not indirectly through people like Atzmon. This is because the BBC is largely made up of antisemites and holocaust deniers who would happy invoke a new holocaust if they could. This isn’t even a debatable point any more. The only two questions you have to ask yourself are, when their apologists and defenders rise out of the muck, will any sane person bother to give them a hearing and how long will British subjects quietly tolerate their money going to fund this?

It is horrible and outrageous that the BBC would broacast the views of a person filled with such hatred and strife towards other people. It is people like him which allow the injustices and wounds of the past to festor in the present day.

For as long as I remember the BBC has always been against the good and nourished the bad. The latest Jimmy Saville fiasco that was kept under cover for a very long time and only because of many British citizens probing and probing they unearthed all the debased details. Many of the employees that kept the details under cover will be brought before the public eye. You may what this have to do with this episode. Well if has anyone ever read any article of the BBC show one that is the truth — THE TRUTH, this a is a word that the BBC has deleted from its dictionary from their early conception. Its nothing new that they have choreograph many occurences and demonized Israel in its wake,

In August 2006 the BBC promoted a Rap artist whose lyrics supported suicide bombers, attacks against USA and supported Osma Bin laden. Before the interview where he was allowed to justify without interruption his extreme views his band could only be broadcast from Portugal but -also the announcer said “it will hopefully be available ” the CD was was widely available after the broadcast. It is vital that the immorality of inciting racial hatred is protested against by powerful iindividuals . The power of a mainstream broadcaster to spread evil has been underestimated and it just takes good people to do nothing for evil to triumph.

TRUE but keep in mind that anti-Semitism is part and parcel of Christianity. I know all about it—I’m Christian and know what’s taught from the pulpits and Sunday schools. If Christianity hadn’t had Judaism to ambush and pulverize for 2,000+ years, it would have collapsed. Therefore the struggle for Jews to fight and overcome anti-Semitism is as good as aloe vera on gangrene. Thanks for writing,Marilyn.

Mark Feffer, you’re saying that the edited and revised KJ Gospels are truthful? Hold on, revisionism, is in itself is a lie that supports an agenda. And so this Jesus Fairy tale is the Gospel? The Jews killed God? If Jesus were God, then who was taking care of the store for 33 years?

I misunderstood because of lack of clarity in your post. You have to write what you mean and mean what you write and when you’re spoofing and satirizing a point, it’s surrounded by quotation marks to further clarify its meaning to a reader. However I do thank you for emailing me just the same. Have a nice day.

Anything true that Jesus ACTUALLY said was as a anti Roman good Jewish Pharisee. All from the Torah and Midrash, etc. Have a good day and see next post on origin of the word ENGLAND,

What’s with all this knocking the BBC? That’s nuts. The BBC is England and vice versa. England’s Balfour Declaration promised Chaim Weizman a Jewish homeland and it happened. So what are Jews screaming about? If something major broke out over there, don’t you think that England would
support Israel? She sure would. England’s courage during the Blitz saved our American bacon. Had that island nation fallen, Hitler would have used it as a base to Iceland, Greenland, Canada and then to the USA. I salute my British cousins and so should every Yanks. We have rightwing nuts here and so does GB. So what? Nuts can be controlled. I give GB my deepest respect, especially Winston Churchill.

Information for Horace: England is part of the United Kingdom.
The BBC is a Broadcasting Corporation founded and bound by the provisons of its Charter Of Incorporation. It is largely funded by the British public under the terms of that Charter.
The BBC frequently violates the tems of the charter that mandate unbiased and un-editorialized reporting of the news. It also violates the provisions of its charter with regard to context, which is frequently missing – an example of which clearly demonstrated in the above article.
It seems your only contact with Britain consists of listening to the BBC and reading about Churchill. That does not qualify you to make your mindbending comment.

Hello Dan and thanks for replying to my comments. First off, I see nothing wrong with calling England, “England.” In case you didn’t know, German is the Mother Tongue of English so the name England is derived from two German words, “Eng” meanng “narrow” and Land meaning of course just that. Calling England, “England” or the U.K. is perfectly acceptable. I studied ENGLISH literature, not U.K. literature. About your contention of the BBC being no lover of Israel or Jews, what can be done to alter it? NOTHING. The sentiment is based on Middle East events + Muslim pressure on London.Of course Israel can always warn the Brits, “Either stop your BBC anti-Semitism or we won’t sell you dates & nuts.

Horace, According to EDENICS world words come from Hebrew. Contain Hebrew roots.Genesis 11:1 says ALL (the) EARTH was ONE SPEECH ( before the babbel at Babel ensued). ALL (KoL) EARTH (AReTZ) hear it? SPEECH (SaPha). So God confounded this One Universal Language .Science calls this Mono Genesis of Language. Edenics is trying to show that Proto Hebrew as best exemplified in the TANACH is the best candidate for this Proto Earth language.

ENGLAND, a bent island. ENG comes from OOKaL,, ANKeL too . Hebrew for bent. The K in Hebrew shifts to another gutteral , G. Go to edenics.net and use the interactive dictionary. Hebrew root of an English word. Be sure to press GO. Shalom from Jerusalem.

Mark, EDENICS? Oh come on mine boy, you can’t be serious. All lingos stem from Hebrew? Oy tut mir veh. The Tower of Babel? You believe in fairy tales? The only language that emanated from Hebrew is Hebrew which of course is not to say that Hebrew is bad. It’s simply outdated and spoken in just one country that’s as big as a flea on an elephant’s right testicle. The word ENGLAND most certainly DID come about from Germanic tribes that invaded the land. ENG and LAND are just plain German, period. ENG means narrow but you don’t think it fits the geography of England? For those living thousands of years ago, “narrow” was close enough because no nation on the European continent has England’s shape

Horace. SCIENCE today posits a world wide universal language in the mists of Earth
history. We at Edenics are trying to show how Proto Hebrew is the best candidate for this Proto Earth. ANGLE and ANKLe may surely originate in OOKaL, bent. I will check the source of England later.

Before you jump (do you believe that millions of years of babbling monkeys produced Shakespearean English?? ) kind of a mystery at that.

PLEASE go to edenics.net and type an English word, press GO and see the Hebrew root.. (There are many unlinked words yet.). BUT letter shifts in linguistics exist. The P in Hebrew PRi (fruit) shifts to B in BERRY for example. Pand B are bilabials.Say them. Also ednics.org.

Horace, my problem was not regarding which name you use for England. My problem was with your believing that England and the BBC are synonyms for eachother. There is a lot more to England and the British than is to be fouind in the BBC. Conversely there is a lot less to the BBC than you imagine. The company is a broadcaster. It has not cured cancer. It has not eliminated world hunger or contributed to world peace. It has accomplished much. It has many wonderful informative and entertaining programmes, It has achieved a global reputation as a pre-eminent broadcaster. For this reason the singular, laser-focused malice of the BBC toward Israel, and by extension Jews, is so devastating.

Regarding nuts and dates: they are truly delicious. However once again it is the BBC that has ever-so-gently drawn you into the minset and distorted view of Israel. You would not have thought, for instance, in your tounge-in-cheek boycott reference, to suggest that Israel threaten to withold medcines it produces (the world’s larges produce of generic drugs) which would effect nearly everybody, or stop shipping chips for cellphones used by everybody, or softwear used by almost everybody, or CT scan machines invented in Israel, or pill-size cameras patients swallow to allow doctors to look at their insides – and so on. No, the BBC would never allow you to form any such view of Israel.

Winnie takes the prize of being the single greatest personality of the 20th century and the indomitable citizens of GB is the most incredible story of bravery ever recorded. Oh yes, we must also pay homage to the Soviet military and the overwhelming courage of the population of the Soviet Union. Eight out of every ten German troops killed during WWII were done in by the Russians.

The more I read and see of the BBC the more I dislike everything that they stand for. Thie undoubted stupid liberal bias demonstrates the filth and garbage that they are, and their entertainment of anti-zionism is just part of their filth, underpinned by sometimes skillful journalism, which they uise to distort ther truth about Israel and encourage everyone to believe the lie that it is Israel’s fault that the Middle east is in a cauldron, that Israel is made to become increasingly unpopular, and their lying manipulative strategy motivated by theeir evil mindset makes them fit only for the sewer.

This man is probably not interested if anyone had something spiritual to say – that is to discern what is truly ‘good’ and what is truly ‘evil.’ To him – he probably couldn’t give a damn, as long as the killing stops, and people are left alone (FYI “Israel leaves Palestine”)!

So many bankrupt British aristocrats accepted wealthy Americans into the family. Churchill was the the result of such “matrimoney.”
Churchill also took 3/4s of Palestine east of ther river Jordan, cleared Jews out to become the ethnically cleansed TransJordan. Britain has fully betrayed the Balfour andSsan Remo Declarations regarding the Jewish homeland, and its discriminatory actions against Israel continue to this day.

The BBC is extreme in its attitude towards farleft liberalism. It shows favourable reports to Obama, naturally, but is cynical towards Romney. It certainly fails to show the USA in a positive manner and like so many of the leftwing fascists, take it out on Israel. The USS is far too strong for the BBC to annoy, so take it oit on Israel.
