It’s an otherwise forgettable analysis of Israeli plans to develop E1. Could Reuters possibly have come up with a more sensationalized headline?
“Doomsday” hill may be one Israeli settlement too far
Doomsday?
By whipping up hysteria, Reuters distracts readers from the real doomsday of December 21, when the Mayan calendar ends and the apocalypse begins.
Take a deep breath. As Elliott Abrams explains, the E1 controversy is “much ado about little.”
And as I explained earlier this week, despite the hype, E1 doesn’t divide the West Bank in two.
Now where can I get one of those doomsday survival kits?

Stupidity, hypocrisy, ignorance and much more of sillyness, it is all bestowed on a non”- existent “Hill E1″. The “disputed area” is for the most a depression, a valley or a panhandle, by far not a “Hill”. I guess that the military may consider it to be a tank trap.

DOOMSDAY?? How biased can these people get??
Rockets raining on Israel are ignored by the left-stream media for YEARS until Israel defends itself. Why aren’t those rockets Doomday??
Arabs poisoning the minds of their children by teaching them to hate Israel, while the UN, US, and Europe finance them. Why isn’t that propaganda Doomsday??

Although the headline was indeed bad choice, my understanding is that by using the word “doomsday” the article was saying that the land under dispute is in the middle of nowhere, which is in line with Elliot Abrams’ piece. This is the main idea in the lead-in:
The hillside called E1 is one of the few places around Jerusalem that Jesus Christ might still recognize: a stony, dusty, barren slope on the way down to the desert and the Dead Sea.

At most, Israeli building in E1 will end the idea of a Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital. It will make room for a Palestinian state with Ramallah as its capital. Surely, a much healthier and more sustainable option. Also, are the Bedouin who are illegally building in E1 because they do not want to end up on the Palestinian side of a future international boundary making a mistake? Finally, there is not full agreement that East Jerusalem should be the capital of a future state Israel has not agreed to it. As Jerusalem is the capital of Israel, that is a very important consideration.

Also, I while I do agree, that upheaval to (the wrong kind of!) violence IS bad, I do not see, why a website cannot be free of LIES — not TOTAL lies, but FREE of DISTORTION. People should be enabled to be honest. Under the current regulations, how they are fomulated, that is NOT possible here. I don’t wanna be in an all-regulated, over-regulated society. THAT IS some real critics I have between me and my Jewish People. Which IS NOT the six million Gased. They were ALL EuropEANS !!! AND NOT Sabres, NOT ISRAELIS, BUT JEWS. It’s time to bypass the insanity of the United Nations. The organization is lopsided and obsolete. If enough people ignore it and its insanity, it will evaporate like the pathetic nightmare it has become.
Somebody needs to start something called the You_N like FB or Youtube and let the people of the world that actually are rational come together and fix things that these so-called ambassadors to the UN have no desire fix.

The so-called ‘world’ has selective memory amnesia. Check out history as relates to the Jewish people – especially during the middle ages & 19th & 20th centuries. Pogroms, laws excluding Jews from entering certain professions, limiting educational opportunities, etc. Then there’s the infamous order by General Grant (after Civil War) limiting Southern Jewish merchants, Eucharist blood libel, ‘Protocols of Elders of Zion’, “Mien Kampf”, Soviet (so-called) ‘Doctors Plot’, HUAC hearings (McCarthyism), expulsion of Jews from Arab states late 40s/early 50s, & too many more anti-Semitic actions to note. . . .

I thought it funny that before “doomsday”, supposedly the end of the world, or TEOTWAWKI (The End Of The World As We Know It), people were buying shelters. Presumably to be installed on THE WORLD!?!?!

And of course everybody knows that the Jews built a time machine, went back in time and convinced the Mayans to end their calendar now, just so they could pull off an evil plot to end the world, thereby killing themselves along with everyone else.
That’s just as plausible as anything else regarding Israel on Reuters.
