Breaking News: Facebook Shuts Down Third Intifada Group

Despite previous statements saying they would monitor but not remove the controversial Facebook group calling for a Third Intifada, Facebook administrators shut down the group early Tuesday morning in response to enormous pressure from pro-Israel activists. All links to the group now go to users personal Facebook profile.
The group had been calling for a march on Israel to “liberate” Palestine beginning on May 15. It remains to be seen how Facebook will respond if similar groups emerge with similar message of a Third Intifada.
New media expert Andre Oboler, one of the first to discover the group was down, told HonestReporting that Facebook made the correct decision shutting down the group. “It’s about time,” he said. “Facebook needs to learn to distinguish between the right to ‘attack’ conceptual ideas, and the ‘wrong’ of attacking people be it because of their race, religion, nationality or political view. When they start to understand that, perhaps they will stop making so many mistakes.”

Racism and biggotry of any kind must be considered a hate crime and treated as a crime. Facebook and any other social medium or platform must abide by not just legal codes, but should be guided by some moral fabric which unfortunately is inconsistent with the freedom of expression often praised as baseline to the internet. Unfortunately this uber-freedom is an invitation for evil to grow, fester and ultimately take action. We have an obligation to blunt this action. Freedom cannot be unbridled as there are simply too many who look at this as approval to do wrong. And this in by itself is wrong.

FB should have done this right away. What’s going on with the powers that be at FB? Why, like YouTube give in to terrorist groups unless part of their leadership are pro-terrorists. The facebook page has shifted as noted above. The page recognized my name when I went to the wall. Not sure how they coded it to do that. I would think some crafty Israeli hackers could solve this problem pretty easily.

I am Fred Bumjee, known as the Ziotroll on the BDS boycott Israel facebook site (80000members), where I am currently active, stopping the lies and hate that is preached against Israel. We have many such sites that we continiously report to Facebook and with time they all go down. Sites we have closed through aggresive reporting include “Kill a Jew a day”, numerous “Fuck Israel” Its called Palestine Not Israel”
Currently still active “We hate Israel” (300000 + members)”, We are with Gaza (approx 100000 members) and many more larger sites.
All help will be greatly appreciated. Just report the sites for hate speech. Do not post as they will copy your profile / or report in mass to have it closed.
