The New York Times is right in stating Israel is responsible for the lack
of peace between Israel and Palestine. You cite Abbas for turning down
Netanyahu’s supposed offer to negotiate but never mention for over forty
years Israel has not given up land for peace but instead continues expanding
illegal settlements on Arab lands. The last progress toward peace was with
Rabin who saw the writing on the wall and conceded there is no chance for
peace or justice while Israel expands its illegal settlements.

Important to note: when Rabin was murdered for his peace with Egypt the
assassin was an Israeli. With such fanatics Israel’s enemies are within.

Hot debate. What do you think? Thumb up 3 Thumb down 7

SR Peterson- I do suggest you read up on the History of the Israeli Arab turmoil .
Without taking you through a comprehensive essay- Let me point out just one item which I hope will make you reconsider.
!978/9 Israel gave back to Egypt the whole of the Sinia complete with a working oil field and a newly constructed tourist resort. In exchange for a piece of paper- written on it the word PEACE.
This was countersigned by President Anwar Sadat of Egypt-
His reward for signing such a paper was assassination by the Muslim Brotherhood-
Thus I ask – who desires peace?
I hope you continue to read and discuss the issues at hand on this site- I look forward to a sensible debate.

You are both a liar and a deceiver. You have twisted the truth to make it a lie. Nice to know that some people never learn from history. Your idiotic view of history shows that in addition to not knowing the truth, you have proven yourself to be a fool. Want to sue me? Go ahead. I own nothing and that is what your illegitimate besmirching remarks are worth: NOTHING.

It’s best to do a bit of reading up on history before making a public comment like that. What about the Egyptian peace treaty?

And what about the attempt to disengage from Gaza in 2006? Lebanon in 2000?

And Rabin was not murdered because of the treaty with Egypt.

Your post is really embarrassing. If there is a delete option you might want to use it. If you want to talk about rejecting peace, you should start with Israel’s offers in 1967, 2000, 2001, and 2008.

Ah, but you seem to forget that in revenge for the Palestinian Nakba, eleven Moslem states (1947-67) expelled and expropriated the land and other assets of 850,000 Jews from Arab countries.
If you seek justice for the Palestinians, you can do no less than seek it for those Jews who had lived in the Arab world for up to 2600 years. Where’s YOUR sense of justice? Where are the expropriaated lands five times the size of Israel? Let’s negotiate honestly.

I guess you censure anything that is a democractic, open, free

I AM RE-SENDING THIS EMAIL TO EMPHASIZE THAT I ALSO SENT IT TO CAMERA. I HOPE YOU WILL BOTH WORK TOGETHER ON IT.

The New York Times is up to its old tricks regarding the photographs of the Pillar of the Defense operation in the Gaza and this should be nipped in the bud!

The three pictures in today’s (11/15/12) edition is just the start! Please send an immediate letter to the Times that such biased and unfair picture reporting is unacceptable. Do this right away to put the Times on notice. And follow up as to further editions as the conflict continues.

    1. The 9 by 4 1/2 inch full color picture from Reuters featured on page one would seem to show that Israel extensively attacked Gaza City. There were no pictures of the actual battle zone, let alone the damage to Israel by the Hamas operatives that necessitated the Israeli operation. (Note: the Wall Street Journal on page A14 also includes a smaller version of this picture.)

    2. The picture on page A4 also by Reuters was obviously staged! It purports to show “An Israeli air strike on Wednesday hit the car of Hama’s top commander in Gaza City.”

    3. The picture on page A4, by Getty Images, of the Israeli children playing games in a bomb shelter during the aerial attacks is obscene. See them playing games and enjoying the piano music!

As you well know the Times has played these biased picture games in the past during war times. Make a record of this picture bias to stop it now – not later when the damage is done.

I am sitting in Israel, a new immigrant, hearing the bombs go off and the planes doing their best..

I am appalled by the fact that more than half the Jews living here are 1947-67 Jewish refugees from Arab countries. Their losses and their numbers are far greater than those of the Palestinian Arabs. Israel’s. UN delegate Ron Prosor has said it and the world had best listen: there will be no peace until BOTH sides’ losses are negotiated. Land stolen from the Jews amounts to territory five times the size of Israel and assets amount to many billions more.

Let’s negotiate fairly and honestly without lies, peropaganda and deceit.

“Let’s negotiate fairly and honestly without lies, peropaganda and deceit.”

Unfortunately Dr. M. Otero, people such as S.R. Peterson and millions like him whose minds are set in concrete, will never concede to fair negotiation nor will they change those fossilized opinions no matter what factual evidence is put before them.
They are incapable of attributing any good to Israel or Jews.

As for the New York Times a paper founded by Jews and once considered the very best. It’s degeneration into an anti Semitic rag unfit for wrapping fish started before WW II.

I have noticed how the New York Times has a penchant for printing headlines on Page 1 beginning with prepositions. Apparently they have chosen to make an exception to this in today’s (November 19, 2012) main headline inasmuch as it concerns Israel. Rather than saying:

After numerous rocket attacks by Hamas from Gaza, Israel strikes back,

    they chose to say:

Israeli assault into Gaza kills a Hamas leader.

Come on, Grey Lady, I propose that you do not preempt the prepositions when it comes to reportage about Israel, which is more than preposterous.

Firstly, I am neither Jewish or Muslim. This is simply an observation. Why is this site so quick to accuse any media outlet such as for example, the BBC or The Guardian newspaper of being anti-Semitic or anti Jewish just for simply reporting on some issue that might portray Israel in a negative light.
It seems to me to be very unfair and is as if you only want positive news reports regarding Israel.
The BBC is known worldwide for its unbiased reporting of the facts and Honest Reporting seems to be unable to take any criticism of Israel in any shape or form.

      D S Rai,

When one is aware of the truth, the actual honest facts, one becomes aware of the gross falsehoods perpetrated by the media that you mentioned and, indeed, most of the western media.

I follow the news closely from media that are pro and con Israel. The New York Times is the medium that supposedly sets the standard for objective reporting as is the BBC. Neither of them can lay claim to that reputation by any stretch of the imagination.

May I respectfully suggest you try doing the same over a period of months or years. Then see if you will feel the same way as you do now.

Sauil Grossman in his letter gives one example of how the media can seem honest yet distort a truth.

D.S., if the NYT is “objective” then I am a 40 foot tall Jacalope, an animal that do not exist. You have NEVER seen a “pro” Israeli report in the Times and you never will.

Forgetting what is going on at the moment, I suggest that you read the Bible. If you are a believer in God, you may want to read where God made an eternal covenant with Abraham. He, God, told Abraham “I will bless them that bless you and curse then that curse you.”

The NYT, BBC, et al are truly cursed for cursing Israel, the ONLY democracy in the Middle East. Name me ONE Arab country that is free, not apartheid, and has no religious freedom. You cannot do that.

HONEST REPORTING exists to point out lies.

D.S., the reason this organization exists is to pay attention to the lies that are told about Israel. If the media organizations did not tell outright LIES, as they currently are telling, there would be no need for Honest Reporting to exist.

Israel has been attacked for days with deadly rockets being lobbed into Israel. How long would YOU wait before taking action to prevent someone from shooting at YOU?

ONLY Israel warns civilians to get out of the areas they are about to hit because the cowardly Arabs hide behind women’s skirts and behind innocent children. They launch their deadly rockets from civilian areas, Israel warns before it attacks…no Arab ever has.

I have monitored the BBC on this subject for many years-
I ask you to consider one item when suggesting that the BBC is “Unbiased” on its reporting with respect to Israel-
Why will they not publish the findings of the Malcom Balen report (in 2004)?- They have spent 10`s of thousands of pounds through the courts to keep it under wrap’s -
This report was commissioned purely because they were accused of anti-Israeli bias, paid for by the tax payer.
So I ask you to write to them and ask for it to be put into the public domain and see, if any what answer you are given?
Then please return and tell us that it is unbiased!

Listening to the BBC news on radio -
Early on Hague foreign minister interviewed made it clear he put responsibility on Hamas-
The female journalist only questioned him on Israels reaction. Mr Hague responded by saying he had asked Israel not to escalate the troubles and that the world had always critised them when they sent in ground forces-
Later in the morning the BBC repeated the interview , left out the initial Hague statement blaming Hamas- and only put out his sentence regarding Ground forces-
    BBC unbiased-

Journalism fallacy HR Nov 20th 2012
Innocent people tend to believe that news agencies and reporters are honest, impartial, educated, and seeking truth and facts.
Unfortunately, nowadays, out of these agencies:
      - some are economical enterprises who sell everything for MONEY
      - some are scared to death in front of brutal attacks of FUNDAMENTALISTS
      - some have FATAL misconception about the meaning of DEMOCRACY. MAJORITY BRUTALITY is NOT democracy. and
      - some have grown wild to express their own agenda, instead of search for TRUTH

Laws of Journalism need to be revised to minimize such a fatal fall and fallacy.

I wanted to share with you what I wrote to the Huffington Post yesterday…

    Dear Editor,

I am writing to express my disappointment in the quality and standards of articles being published on the current Israeli-Gaza conflict. I have a degree in Journalism and I am trying to still believe that there is such thing as reputable journalism, however the blatant bias portrayed on your publication is so difficult to ignore and overlook.

Your political correspondent Mr Hasan seems to be the main arbiter of truth in the current situation. His writing is uninformed, and I hope that an educated readership will be able to see his personal biases shining through his writing, rather than a desire for..

The trouble with journalists is that they are journalists. They keep a journal, a record of their perceptions, interpretations and feelings and opinions without any regard for the facts or for the truth. A journal is nothing more than a personal diary.

Reporters, on the other hand, are obliged to report what they see with accuracy and honesty and objectivity.

That is why there are so precious few reporters these days.
That is why the news is so twisted and warped and misleading.
It is not really ‘news’. It is merely entries in personal diaries with the biases and prejudices of the authors and nothing more.

Lots of complaints against dishonest reporting & reporters who distort facts. So, a few questions:
    a) Is there in News/Reporting organizations “ombudsmen”? i.e. that impartial civilian authority to whom we readers, can submit our complaints? Why NOT?
    b) Are there any penalties by LAW against liars and distorters of facts? Why NOT? Honesty is a good concept. But without any legal tooth against dishonest reporters/agencies has no real value
    c) What is the nature of those editors, who
    – ignore readers’ questions?
    – sell their honesty for MONEY?
    – submit to FUNDEMENTAL DICTATORSHIP of CERTAIN masses (e.g. ~1.3 Billion inhabitants of earth)?
Are they “Democracy Watchdogs”? NOT LIKELY!
