HonestReporting’s Yarden Frankl says that year after year journalists use the story of Christmas to accuse Israel of abusing its Palestinian population. According to that narrative, ‘if Joseph and Mary were alive today they wouldn’t be able to visit Bethlehem due to the checkpoints.’ Yarden points out that in reality, as Jews, Joseph and Mary would have a problem visiting the town today due to the security threat against Jews/Israelis who enter PA controlled areas.
