Certainly not as the BBC does! The BBC writes as if Israel is whining again. Most people will stop reading after the Headline and the intro as it seems to simply reconfirm what has been written so often before, namely that Israel is again against the UN.
BBC Headline: UN Gaza report ‘should be buried’
BBC Intro in bold: Israel has called on the UN to cancel a report that said it possibly committed war crimes during its 2008-2009 military offensive in Gaza
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-12949016
This is of course accompanied by the usual pictures, subtitled “Israel’s 22-day Gaza offensive ended in January 2009, with 1,400 Palestinians and 13 Israelis dead”.

Headline should be :-
The UN owes Israel an apology for its false accusations via the Goldstone Report accusing Israel of war crimes!!!

Christianne Amanpour of ABC News should be required to do a program on the brutality of Hamas not only against Israelis, but against Palestinians. Highlight their charter, which calls for the murder of Jews worldwide, and murder of Palestinian collaborators.
Video and translations of Islamic imams’ speeches must be shown on American TV to begin to portray the depth of Islamic hatred for Jews.

I agree with the SHOULD, but to expect this to happen is unrealistic. Nevertheless, we have to push for this and more. Israel MUST make the best out of this opportunity, because this is what it is! THere should be already a wave of notices going out to every reporter, edidtor, newsagency and TV station with supporting pictures, quotes and reports of the truth. Additionally the politicians all around the world must be told about this development and finally, the UN must be battered with requests from official sources to retract the initial report and make an official correction in writing, on the books, and announcing the reversal of any condemnation of Israeli action by the chairman in the most public way possible.

It will be interesting to watch as Judge Goldstone slides into obscurity. As a useful idiot, he had his moment of fame and was feted by the media. Now that he has made a belated, half-hearted effort to set the record straight, I suspect that no one will give him the time of day.

So, big deal, Goldstone now admits he should have known better. What else is new? In September it is expected that the UN Security Council will agree to a Palestinian state that will include the West Bank. As per usual, no consideration is given to Israel and its right to survive as a state. No the Palestinians still have not changed their edict that Israel should be washed into the sea.

The medias should raise their own standard for journalism from that of advocacy to fact based reporting.
In order to salvage their credibility and professionalism they must uncover all of the players including the judge Goldstone, the individuals involved in the process at the UN, and the very process itself that they followed which produced this piece of fraud.
Golstone should be exposed for his hypocrisy and bigotry and whatever his personal agenda in rubber stamping this dubious and fraudulent report. He must also be held professionally accountable for the damage his report caused.

NYT: TOP OF FRONT PAGE. BIG COLOR PICTURE OF PALESTINIANS PRAYING NEAR ISRAELI SOLDIERS. TOUCHING.
In Israel, Time for Peace Offer May Run Out: Growing UN Support for a Palestinian State: Israel may face a UN vote WELCOMING THE STATE OF PALESTINE AS A MEMBER….
THEN, JUST ABOVE THE FOLD : A Retraction on Israel: the head of a UN panel on the GAZA war retracted an assertion that Israel purposely killed Palestinians…

CORRECTION: What appears just at the fold of this morning’s NYT is just a tickler. The entire story is buried on page 10. Just as well, since the story, repeating the false figures of casualties from the Goldstone Report, is a self-serving defense of the Times’ original front-page coverage of the Report. They even had to drag out the fact that Goldstone was almost barred from attending his grandson’s bar mitzvah by the outraged congregants. The implication — this honest Jewish judge was forced to cave in to pressure from Jews all over the world. What confounds me is — this report came out 2 years ago, and EVER SINCE THEN, Goldstone has been going around the world, defending it and his investigation. Why, all of a sudden now, the epiphany? If he’s really sincere about his retraction, he should devote the rest of his life to rectifying the wrongs he has committed — the blood that has been spilled on account of his report, the misinformation that is being quoted by anti-Israel professors and students the world over, the warrants that have been issued for Israeli military and governmental officials who are not free to get off a plane in Spain, Britain, and elsewhere. A simple mea culpa, at this point, is nothing short of an insult.

We are still waiting for the media to correct the blood libel against Israel, of the young Palestinian boy, I think Al Dura, almost a decade ago.

The Israeli government and Jews in the Diaspora should write to the BBC and publish the letter in one of the more favourable newspapers clearly setting out the facts. Stating clearly
what Goldstone did and how he ignored all the evidence supporting Israel. Also how he accepted the word of Hamas without seeking verification and was further misled by NGO’s.
Having done that invite the media and the BBC to say if the facts as now presented, are
accepted and to apologise for their biased reporting particularly having regard to Goldstone’s
own admissions that he was wrong and agrees that his report would have been very different
had he not irresponsibly accepted the lies that had been told to him but had listened to the Israeli case.

If all diaspora congregations are led by bodies such as Board of Deputies, then you should not expect even a wink.
I have seen many individuals more willing and capable that BOD.

Anyone who thinks that the media will change its fallacious narrative of the Gaza War after Judge Goldstone disavowed his own report, is either irredeemably naive or pathologically hostile to Israel regardless of the truth. And equally futile is expecting a public apology from the Judge or the BBC and the newspapers whose thunderous silence in the aftermath of the Goldstone op-ed article is indicative of their inherent bias against the only democracy in the MiddleEast.

Unfortunately, some other intellectually dishonest Jew will surface and clam that Goldstone really does not mean what he is NOW saying. I mean, really, how could a Jew, a judge, no less, be so wrong. Goldstone, in the eyes of many represents the epidome of a “good Jew” This is someone who lives by the adage that the purest form liberalism is someone who turns against their own.

I agree with Martine (one of the first to reply above) and could not add anything more useful to what she has said.
She outlined what has to be done, while stating her strong doubts that anything will happen.
I agree with both. The work must be done just as she says.
What the media will do with it is another question.

The UN is a haven for poltroons, misanthropes and wild-eyed doctrinaires like Goldstone. Fools, partisans and troglodytes all. Bolt the doors and implode the edifice so that the stench emanating from that holy crowd of maniacal impostors yields to the sweet smell of New York pizza and a nice plate of pickled herring.

NO CORRECTION NEEDED. Thus: “retracted an assertion that Israel purposely killed Palestinians…” The “…” meant to indicate that there was more to follow – sorry I didn’t mention that it followed on page 10, but I was trying to make the point that the front page went from Big Picture to WELCOMING THE STATE OF PALESTINE AS A MEMBER, and finally a line referring to the Goldstone Report, but not by name (just above the fold) – thus fitting the news to print.

The MSM should see this “reconsideration” and his current professorship at Stanfor for what it is: Goldstone’s “rehabilitation tour”. (I’ve heard that he is positioning himself for Secretary General of the UN. Would not surprise me one bit.)

The Protocols of Zion are still circulated as fact, and in fact are best sellers in many Muslim countries. What makes you think that Goldstone repudiating his report would make it less accepted?

The correct thing is that this mad man/judge did evil and cannot repay the damage he caused. But Judaism says where a repentant sinner stands the most rightious cannot. This past sinner is greater than the Dathans now enjoying 5 minutes of fame for their horrifically false Israel bashing – he has left the Chompsky/Tea-party/Left devil brigade. Congratulations.
