It’s bad enough that most media have accepted Gaza casualty figures from the 2014 war without questioning their veracity. In this case, it’s compounded by multiplying the figure by 100.

Gaza casualties, including terrorists, are widely reported to be around 2,000, not 200,000 as the IBT has written.

An email has been sent requesting an immediate correction.

UPDATE

HRsuccessThanks to the IBT for promptly amending the casualty figure, which now reads “2,200 people.” It’s still regrettable, however, that the IBT along with most mainstream media still cite Gaza casualty figures as provided by the UN courtesy of the Hamas-controlled Gaza Health Ministry.
