Iran Launches Another Satellite News Channel

February 1, 2012 12:25 by

Tehran’s charmlessly offensive “charm offensive” in Latin America continues with the launch of a 24-hour Spanish language news channel. At HispanTV‘s launching, Iranian foreign minister Ali Akbar Salehi delivered the money quote:

Media has the power to shape the global public opinion, a capability that military power lacks,” he said.

Oh so true.

By the way, the media power Salehi accurately describes is a double-edged sword. Iran’s image in the UK took a hit a few days ago amid the debacle of its English language news/propaganda station – Press TV was kicked off British airwaves.

More on HispanTV’s launch at the Miami Herald.
