Israel, Iran and the Oliphant in the Room
March 22, 2012 15:05 by Pesach BensonPat Oliphant‘s portrayal of Israel and the US reduced to “brains and brawn” isn’t just twisted — it’s low.
Maybe I’m just oversensitive to years of anti-Semitic imagery depicting Jews influencing events behind the scenes. What do you think?

Twisted, low…very kind and gentle words for a completely distorted view of the situation..it stinks and it belong definitely to a category of long and painfull antisemite depiction of jews that we all know too well how it can end.
Just read the comments posted at Oliphant’s site, if you had any doubts

Ah, the once great cartoonist Oliphant. Does anyone even pay attention to him any more? That said, this is an example of his blatant anti-Israel attitude but this cartoon — by itself — is not evidence of antisemitism. It’s an unfair comment about world events, not about Jews.

I think you probably are oversensitive to years of anti-Semitic imagery depicting Jews influencing events behind the scenes. So am I, only it’s not so much oversensitive as merely seeing it for what it is, anti-Semitic/anti-Israel imagery.

Oliphant has a long history of a Jewish problem. He will likely be invited to the next iranian Holocaust denial conference like fellow Streicher follower carlos latuff

What I found most interesting about the cartoon is the use of a tiny character in the lower right corner pointing towards Netanyahu and saying “he must be in charge here”. Oliphant must think his audience is so dumb that they couldn’t figure out the point of the cartoon.
I would argue the cartoon has not crossed the line of being anti-Semitic. Now, had the “fight manager” been depicted as a “generic” Jew, then Oliphant would have crossed the line.

Oliphant thinks he is smarter than anyone. Jew haters usually do. What he does not realize that his cartooning all these years has been depicting an American political system that is really a circus.
