Israel Made Me Beat My Wife
July 31, 2012 13:06 by Simon Plosker
It’s truly amazing just how far The Guardian can go when it comes to blaming Israel. Angela Robson takes a look at the status of women in Gaza and carries out some interviews:
“Before the blockade, my husband used to make good money working in Israel,” she says. “With the blockade, that all stopped. When he can’t find any work and we have nothing to eat, he blames me. He is a like a crazy animal. I stay quiet when he hits me. Afterwards, he cries and says, if he had a job, he wouldn’t beat me.”
It is five years since Hamas took control of the Gaza Strip and Israel tightened its siege of the territory. Many men became jobless overnight and it is women who have ended up bearing the brunt of their husbands’ frustration.
So let’s get this straight – Israel is the reason that Palestinian men beat their wives.
News breaks fast. Get HonestReporting alerts by e-mail
and never miss a thing.
Maybe The Guardian’s journalist might like to consider that violence against women might very well be a by-product of a society that glorifies violence and terrorism, where children can spend their summers learning jihadi skills at Hamas sleepaway camps.
And what about Hamas control over Gaza, which encourages a conservative Islamic attitude towards women, curtailing their freedoms, opportunities and even their dress codes?
Nowadays, with the blockade cutting off 1.6 million Palestinians from the rest of the world, conservatism dominates much of daily life.
So, according to The Guardian, it is Israel’s blockade that has led to increasing conservatism and nothing to do with an extreme, misogynistic Hamas government. Indeed, nowhere in the article is Hamas responsible for any of the social ills afflicting Gazans. The only possible culprit is Israel.
And what of the barriers to Gazan women’s liberation?
So many doors have been closed to Palestinian women in Gaza. It’s like getting out of one prison only to find another door closed. There are many obstacles – the occupation, the blockade, the internal Palestinian division.
Considering that Israel left Gaza in 2005, it’s somewhat bizarre that “the occupation” is having such a negative impact on women’s rights in the territory.
What’s next? Will The Guardian blame Israel if Palestinian athletes fail to win any medals at the London Olympics?

It’s easy for the media to characterize Israel as a default “culprit” because they know that Jews won’t go out and fore-bomb their headquarters.
The left-wing western media will always default to the weaker “little guy” narrative even though the Palestinians are a part of a huge aggressive force surrounding miniscule Israel.
This is a country that never invaded nor maliciously attacked another sovereign country ever, and a country that harbors the most civil, humanist and gentle society of the Middle East. When comparing the Palestinians who have never taught tolerance to their children EVER with Israelis who’s citizens have earned any number of Nobel Prizes over it’s history…….geez

I think the Gazans can justifiably blame Israel for blocking the supply of Pork sausages into Gaza. Every Mosque in Gaza used to distribute free Pork sausages to worshipers during Ramadan, but since Israel left Gaza the supply of Pork sausages has dried up as has the sale of Pigs in Gaza’s central market. This is obviously a war crime which the UN should investigate by sending Judge Richard Goldstone , the NYT’s Tom Friedman , Vanessa Redgrave & Respect MP George Galloway back to Gaza in a UN convoy of 1,000 tons of fresh Pork Sausages & 500 white pigs !

This article is clearly a piece of trash. It is absurd to blame domestic violence on political or economic circumstances. It also doesn’t explain why men beat women, and wome women beat men- the world over. There are plenty of cases of domestic violence in Israeli families. It is a problem that exists in every country of the world. Instead of making excuses for violent people why don’t we make them take responsibility for their actions. The fact that the Palestinians live under incredibly harsh conditions does not excuse abusive behavior towards their wives or husbands. However- this article also makes the assumption that the beating of women is normal in the territories- which is not true.

Yes, it seems those bad Israelis just decided on the merest whim to blockade Gaza. Obviously they were at a loose end, having presumably wearied of even those lovely rocket displays that those sweet Hamas folk decided to put on for them at great cost. It is touching to think that they spent even their children’s aid money on these pyrotechnics. The people of Gaza mustthink that those Israeli’s have no sense of gratitude. I can hear the poor fellows even now, “We send you all those whizz-bang rockets and you stop our ships and confiscate the bits we need to send you more. There’s gratitude for you!”

Has any group been ostracised, segregated, beaten, humiliated, dehumanised, violated and butchered more than the Jewish people? You talk of returning to the pre-1967 borders but could you tell me a single nation in the world that WOULD return to such a militarily indefensible position, in light of the bellicosity of the surrounding nations.

Was Israel not created through a war, which lasts to this day? As “bellicose” as the neighbours may be, clearly they are not as bellicose as Israel, otherwise the expulsion of palestinians and the annexation of their land would never have been tolerated. How sanctimonious to complain about the neighbours after having not only deliberately put oneself right in the wolf’s mouth, but also pinched its tongue.

English is not my main language… still, it is obvious to me that all that text does is show a consequence of the conflict. That consequence is a fact. People without jobs are more at risk of beating their wives.
It certainly does not say it is a healthy/reasonable reaction nor that Israël should be blamed for it.
Those Palestinians are blockaded and living in awful conditions. That has consequences, such as lowering the value of life (theirs and their opponents) and participates in breeding extremism.
Israël left Gaza but it is still blockaded. And yes, women suffer from that.
Nothing wrong in that article.

Israel has international law, mandates, treaties, accords, UN charter article 80, history, the Bible, and even the Koran (5:20-21) on its side. The Arabs have only Sharia. The UN is apparently now under Sharia. Israel has been re-constituted in its ancient homeland and is here to stay. No Arab invaders and colonialists will change that. Abbas and his pals have land in Jordan, 78% of the putative Jewish National Home to go to. They were given that 90 years ago as a Two-State-Solution. Its about time they went there.

This is a really biased piece of reporting bordering on propaganda. Obviously the guy who beats his wife because he can’t get a job and they thus live in poverty is a , but can none of you imagine what living in true dark grinding poverty is like? Nearly all Gazan Palestinians live below the poverty line. In fact 44% of Gazans are unemployed as a result of the crushing seige conditions imposed by Israel.
This rate rises to 55% during times of complete closure imposed by Israeli Occupation Forces. So the poverty rate in the Gaza Strip rate is approximately 70% who live on $2 per day, or less.
No wonder some people are not as good as they could be.

Israel does not have International Law on its side. It has America on its side which has a veto in the UNSC. Even then, America recognises that the settlements are illegal.
Israel is in breach of the Geneva Conventions and numerous UN resolutions, and has never implemented its own side of the Oslo Accord. The latest round of settlement building makes it likely that even staunch allies like the UK will withdraw their ambassadors, and the next thing is minimal diplomatic relations. Israel is losing friends faster than it can murder Arabs.

Letting Jews into America in the early 1900s turns out, in retrospect, to have been a big mistake.pushed AMERICA!!? to become empire of evil, Madness and hate.
Jews eventually used their huge wealth to manipulate our money-driven political system to force a radical pro-Israel policy on the rest of us. This has resulted in numerous terrorist attacks on us dumb Gentiles, including 9/11. Total cost of having Jews? Four trillion dollars for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan alone (fallout from the 9/11 attacks). It? is time for a revolution.JEWS have threatened to destroy European capitals Zionism and Judaism have been the enemy of God, kings and nations for? 3500 years!
