New York Times Complicates Jerusalem Issue

March 17, 2013 15:09 by

In a front page story on the eve of President Obama’s visit to Israel, NYT Bureau Chief Jodi Rudoren writes that a small number of Jews buying apartments in predominantly Arab Jerusalem neighborhoods is “complicating” the Jerusalem issue.

Rudoren admits that these apartments are privately financed and not part of an Israeli government initiative. So should people really be prohibited from buying apartments based on the sole fact that they are Jewish?

Although she has several references to how the area fell under Israeli control in the 1967 war, she fails to give the historical context to that event. Many neighborhoods in and around Jerusalem’s Old City had significant Jewish residents who were killed or expelled from the area in 1948. (As you can see in this HR Video, Jerusalem: The Media Myth of Two Cities.) What the Palestinians call a “conquest” of Jerusalem is looked upon by many Israelis as a “liberation” and “reunification.” After all, in its 3,000 year history, the city was only divided for 19 years while under Jordanian control.

Yet Rudoren deliberately leaves out anything that doesn’t fit her narrative. Two direct quotations from Palestinian Authority officials tell readers about the “colonization”  of the area. She cites unnamed “experts” agreeing that the city must eventually be divided as if this was a consensus opinion. But if anything, there is significant opposition within Israel for dividing Jerusalem, especially where historically Jewish areas are concerned.

At the very end of the article, there is one quotation from a Palestinian that put the whole issue into a different light:

They think that this is their place and this is their land, but this is not the case. We are here and we are staying here, but they won’t. There are people here who won’t let them.

Palestinian intolerance is what “complicates” the Jerusalem issue, not a few Jewish families buying apartments overlooking the Old City.

Jerusalem has had a Jewish population majority since the late 1850s – that’s 130 years already, before ‘Palestinianism’ was invented:
Jews were expelled from East-Jerusalem by the Jordanian occupation at 1948. They lived in East-Jerusalem for thousands of years. They returned to their homes after Israel liberated the city in 67.
Jerusalem was never in history the capitol of any Arab country.

Camera has documented over and over how the Times and Rudoren turns a blind eye to the Palestinians lies against Jews. Why doesn’t Rudoren go on Palmediawatch.

I find it unbelievable that the Times didn’t report that Holocaust Denier and Munich massacre financier Abbas had his media glorify the Palestinians slaughtering Israeli children.

Its amazing how Times reporter Jodi Rudoren came out as an apologist for Palestinian terrorists firing a missile at Israel from Gaza for no reason a few weeks ago.
I wonder if Jodi would think that if Mexico or Cuba fired a missile at the U.S.

Camera rebukes the lies of Rudoren.

Israel is always being told to end apartheid. The only discrimination is Israel is the way that Jews are banned from living in East Jerusalem, although Arabs can live anywhere in West Jerusalem, or anywhere else in Israel.

It is time that this discrimination (apartheid) against Jews was ended. Is there any other nation in the world that would tolerate members of the majority national group being banned from living in parts of their own capital city on the grounds that it is home to minority group? The idea is preposterous.

There is no requirement for Jerusalem to be divided and no justification for keeping Jews out of East Jerusalem, in which Jews have lived for thousands of years.

Jeffrey, there is no east Jerusalem, it is called the east quarter of Jerusalem! East Jerusalem is a term used to refer to the old city of Jerusalem from antiquity to geographically distinguish from the new part of Jerusalem also referred to as west Jerusalem.

To even talk of a “jerusalem issue” only serves the abusive fascist antisemite antizionist elements whereever, be it KKK-nazi-US-racists or extremely leftist, unconcious, to the US-”line” (which ain’t there, nowhere, haha, will expalayn further :) sudo-”Jews” like this Jody Rudoren of the NYT, and to even talk of a “jerusalem issue” is a drastic mistake by all Jews and by HR here.

I see no prob with Jews living in the same territory than Muslim Arabs. We must intermingle and learn to live with eachother. One planet. One mind. One People. We are ONE ! Is a famous outcry by RAGGAMUFFIN RASTAFARI Blacks. May ALL of them once see ZION, THEIR, OUR ZION.

THAT is the “US LINE”, the ABUSIVE ONE, to which ALSO JODY RUDOREN is “obedient”.

Watch “OBEDIENCE – THE MILGRAM EXPERIMENT” on youtube. The “Milgram Foundation” tried to keep YOUTUBE from publishing that via me, sent me three legal notices of copyright infringement. I deny that accusation.

This continual clap trap over the ongoing discussion of land ownership worldwide will all be settled upon the return of Yeshua our Jesus.
Sadly man believes the media gossip and not scripture
Will they care about ownership when their future is in hell.
I’m listening to rubbish on Fox News a channel that keep speaking ill of its leader president Obama and a news channel that has one of it front presenters saying the bible contradicts itself.

    This one is shocking.
NY Times appeases Palestinian mass murderer Ahlam Tamimi who was behind the massacre of 15 Israeli civilians including 8 children at the Sbarros massacre in 2001.

Firstly, many countriesd, including the EU is paying heavy financial “rewards” to the families of terrorists who were convicted of murdering Jews. How nice that the EU does not pay the families of Islamic terrorists who kill Americans.
Secondly, please do not call the eastern sector of Jerusalem as East Jerusalem. It is not. It is east Jerusalem. How ignorant people are in continuing the myth of Arab Jerusalem.in the Old City. The Old City consisted of 4 ancient quarters and one of them, until the Jews were ethnically cleansed by the British lead, armed, trained and supported Transjordanian forces in 1948.
It is nothing more than sheer rabid racism to exclude Jews habitation anywhere

  13. Sir R. Donaldson, Sir, you “brought me down”, so to say. I agree to all you say — of course. Of course I AM WITH ALL I GOT opposed against those RACISTS of ALSO FOX, who purport the mottos of the KKK — of hitler. Of truly anti-american total opression, of fascism. Thank You, Sir, You save a lot. You’re good. It ain’t so easy from afar over the net, to see how many people really are like this and that.

I merely criticse Obama’s verbal pressure against Israel, and that on his last period, he left out Israel on a mideast trip of his. I too defend Obama but Israel’s more in need of help.
