Vote For This Year’s Dishonest Reporter

November 1, 2010 9:59 by

Disnoest-awardlogoNow’s the time to vote for the 2010 Dishonest Reporting Awards — our annual recognition of the year’s most skewed and biased coverage of Israel and the Mideast conflict.

Please choose one of the five nominees below, along with a brief explanation why he/she/it deserves to receive our ignoble award. (You may also nominate someone else not on the list). Then send your submission to action@honestreporting.com

The Nominees (in no particular order)

  1. BBC: For Panorama denying Jewish ties to Jerusalem, and Jeremy Bowen enjoying tensions with the US.
  2. Reuters photo desk: Poorly cropping Mavi Marmara photos, and suspicious access to the Lebanon border clash.
  3. Octavia Nasr: CNN editor fired over sympathy tweet for a dead Hezbollah leader.
  4. The Lancet: Throwing peer review out the window to skewer Israel.
  5. Time: For an imbalanced cover story claiming Israelis don't want peace.

We’ll announce the results at the end of year. Due to the volume of mail, we can't acknowledge nominations. See last year's "winners" — and don’t forget to vote!

    For BBC’s “Panorama”
“If I forget you, O Jerusalem, let my right hand wither!
Let my tongue cling to the roof of my mouth.” (Psalm 137:1-6)
THAT TEXT APPEARED CENTURIES BEFORE EVEN A SMELL OF AN ARAB APPEARED IN PALESTINE. i WOULD LIKE TO STRESS THAT THE ENTIRE SO-CALLED PALESTINIAN CAUSE IS BASED ON GROSS LIES. AND AS ANY LIE IT STINKS

The most dishonest is Haroon Siddiqui of the Toronto Star. His anti-Israel rants and the Toronto Star’s anti-Israel articles and editorials are too numerous to name a particular column.

Reuters because they were obviously looking for trouble….Time because of their constant anti Israel perspective, and BBC which tries to portray itself as the erudite deliverer of the news, never acknowledging their own bias….they all have much too much exposure.

Having been unable to destroy Israel through war and terrorism, the Palarab (Palestinians) are in the process of WINNING the war to destroy Israel through delegitimization. The only way to save our State is launch a COUNTER delegitimization campaign. We must 1) stand up for our history and 2) expose what the Palestinian leadership says to its own people vs. what it tells the US/West. This strategy will completely REVERSE the false narrative Israel being the cruel, usurper state and will correctly place the responsibility, for the ongoing conflict, on the Palestinian ideology and behavior.

BBC’s attitudes may reflect ideology. Time’s article is, in my opinion as an Israeli, mostly accurate. CNN shouldn’t hire someone like Nasr at all, not on nationality grounds but on militantism and totally lack of impartiality. What Reuters photo desk did is pure fraud in journalism.

They are all anti-semitic. Why is it that some reporters feel that they have to always choose Jews to be their Scapegoats.

I vote for Reuters as their photos and videos are dispatched all over the world and are a reference for journalists. The others are evil also but they are not a reference as great as Reuters is. And I could suggest one which is permanently and by all means trying to deligitimate Israël, it is the french agency AFP, (Agence France Presse which gain, by doing so, the nickname of Agence France Palestine)

As a Norwegian I miss Norwegian reporters on your list. However, Norwegian journalists are in hard competition with film makers as Vibeke Løkkeberg, doctors as Mads Gilbert and Erik Fosse or artists as Håkon Gullvaag.

Time Magazine, for being both anti-Israel and anti-Semitic on their cover and in the article. While claiming to be writing about a modern situation in a modern nation, they were just reviving an ancient anti-Semitic trope about Jews and money.

I think the former Dean of the White press corps, Helen Thomas, expressed what the World Media, has convicted the World, that Israel has usurped from the palestinians their land. Therefore, they should get out of that Land. But this lady, who has been a part of the press for the White House through so many presidents, makes you wonder is she is not also expressing what these presidents think? And Who is or are behind this mind set or world view, and what is their purpose? Because it is not just one reporter, its the whole body who is eager and militant to potray Israel as the vilan, and vilan as the lamb.

AMONG-The most dishonest was the Catholic Synod (READ- The Roman catholic is referred to as the “Harlot” in Revelation-) saying Israel had no right to the Holy Land for Jesus abbrogated that right. Anyway the Catholics hijacked true Christianity starting with Old Constantine- they worship in unGodly places and join the cain religion to bash Israel. Thanks – John Shook. Barrn.
