The Washington Post: An In-Depth Analysis

September 19, 2010 22:00 by

The Washington Post is one of the most influential news organizations in the world.

So it is alarming that it is often anti-Israel propaganda that the Post covers rather than the straight facts. Why can’t the Washington Post stick to the truth?

Click here or on the image below to read the full study.

We looked at every aspect of the Post’s coverage of the Palestinian-Israeli issue. What we saw was that the reporting frequently failed to pass standards of objectivity in four specific areas:

1) Balance

Frequently, those making claims against Israel far overwhelmed sources that tried to explain Israel’s positions.

2) Context

Key context was often missing leaving readers without extensive background in the history of the Middle East and wondering if the conflict began in 1967.

3) Inaccurate Terms

Misleading terms were used and important facts left out.

4) Omission of Key Facts

Key facts about incidents were often left out giving a biased reflection of events.

These elements of bias mean that readers of the Post were more likely to be misled by its coverage than informed.

I laugh every single time I read your false news. You claim to be ‘honest’, but for each and every article, I do in-depth research as a professional journalist…and guess what? ALWAYS, your version is full of manipulated facts, blatant lies, significant twists (e.g. omission of pertinent facts that would render your reporting meaningless), and fabrications. NOT a single article of yours is honest, in fact, they are all far from anything remotely true. If you think intelligent people will believe your propaganda, that’s even more hilarious. You don’t fool people, you only shoot yourselves in the foot. You are solely responsible for delegitimising yourselves.

Hot debate. What do you think? Thumb up 2 Thumb down 10

Journalists are supposed to give readers facts. All we get from you is biased comment.

So much for YOUR professionalism, dicknose. You dont even sound like a real ‘journalist’. How about some citations instead of baseless accusation? You’re just a clown. Troll somewhere else.

i believe the world has not changed in their anti- semetic bias- if it involves Israel it is automatically assumed Israel is wrong and everyone else is right- 60 years ago the slogan was never again- 60 years later the slogan is here we go again

  4. [...] This statement makes clear for the reader that there is a distinction between opinions and what is supposed to be factual reporting. It also gives complete license to editors to write what they really think. The clear separation might explain why, overall, the editorial pages seem far more objective than the news coverage. [...]
