As Operation Pillar of Defense continues, here are the Top 5 Media Fails as HonestReporting inaugurates its Hall of Shame.
1. Jon Donnison, BBC
for retweeting a dramatic photo of two children wounded in war without making any effort to verify the photo’s authenticity.
Turns out the children were wounded in Syria and the photo first appeared Oct. 28.
He later apologized for the retweet…
but with the original retweet going out to more than 7,000 followers and receiving nearly 100 retweets of its own, the apology was too little too late to undo the damage.
2. BBC News
for refusing to acknowledge misleading its audience with fake footage of wounded Palestinians.
Almost as soon as Israel launched Operation Pillar of Defense, the Pallywood machine cranked into gear, creating fake images of Palestinians being evacuated after an Israeli strike. The footage appeared on BBC and CNN reports on the fighting.
CNN took steps after the fact to verify the footage with Reuters, which distributed it. And after failing to get a satisfactory answer, removed the footage and issued an apology.
The BBC, however, stood by the footage, claiming that the footage it ran was an edit from a longer reel. The footage that appeared on the site, however, bore all of trademarks of similar attempts to fake footage on the day of the Mohammed al-Dura incident.
3. Clayton Swisher, Al-Jazeera
for tweeting that Palestinian rocket attacks at Israeli civilians were legal under the laws of war.
In fact, if there is one aim to restricting what can and can’t be done during wartime, it is to protect the lives of civilians.
Swisher not only serves as an apologist for Hamas but also turns the concept of war crimes on its head.
It may be too much to expect journalists to accuse either side of war crimes. But to deny it is a step even beyond that.

Where to begin? Ok, let’s start with, oh, King David of Israel and his 40 years as ruler, between approximately 1010 and 970 B.C.E., and he ruled from a town known as Bethlehem. Now when was the “Prophet” born? I believe that was, yes, the Prophet Mohammed was born on 12 Rabee3 Al Awal in corresponding to the 20th of April 570 AD. So the long and short answer is….End of discussion!

There are numerous incidents where Jews (and Christians) were forcibly converted or murdered or expelled by Muslim rulers. Any good history book will cite them. Jews have a 3,000 year connection to the Land of Israel as confirmed by multiple texts and archaeology. Islam has only been around for 1,300 years and conquered what the Romans re-named Syria-Palaestina, formerly Judea (from the Hebrew Yehudah). So Jews have a 1,700 year advantage over Muslims on claims to the land however 1.6 million Muslims live peaceably in Israel.
If America is as appealing as you say, then I suggest you take the next plane. As for Muslims being barbaric, those are your words so should I disagree with you?

One reason fewer Muslims convert to Judaism or Christianity than vice versa, may have to do with Islam’s tendancey toward forced conversions where ever they take over by force or otherwise, and its corresponding tendancy to kill muslims who convert out or who even are suspected of doing so.

I’d never ever waste my precious time discussing with muslims. Ignore them. They are not able to understand and will never see the truth because they’ve been made zombies from cradle on. If they have a little brain capability…it’s only applicable to routine torture and murder, even to their own. Save your energy to educate the normal humans who, if not alerted, they too will be converted to zombies even inside our own beloved United States of America (it’s already started)

Dear Muslim, it would be interesting to hear your solution to the middle east problem? You seem to infer the Jewish nation does not belong in the region and does not have a legitimate history relating to the land. Am i correct in understanding your comments?
You make it sound like the existence of Israel is the problem in the middle east. I believe Israel just wants to exist but there are those who hold certain beliefs that Israel should not exist. It is these beliefs that stir up hatred towards Israel so much so that even in conditions of poverty they can still attain missiles.Its a strange god you believe in that would cause you to hate anybody, evidently not the True God.

Look, the matter of the fact is that both sides commit wrongdoing against one another but if you look beyond the surface and free yourself of fanaticism and bigotry, you would see the truth: the holy land must be under the rule of a just and fair authority; the zionist entity is far from being so. 1. I can understand from your point of view, though do not agree. In the Hebrew scriptures (1Kings 18:17) wicked king Ahab accused the prophet Elijah of being the cause of all the trouble. In fact the real cause was Ahab’s idolatry. Likewise, Allah is the Moon God, one of many false gods originally worshipped by Muhammad’s clan at the Ka’aba.
2. WHAT colonial power? Israel is a sovereign state! If you mean America, the American President is a Muslim sympathiser. He wouldn’t admit that openly but some of his words and actions show it. He’s probably more on your side than Israel’s!
