Vote for the Dishonest Reporter of 2012
November 4, 2012 15:35 by Pesach Benson
In addition to that that other election, now’s the time to vote for the Dishonest Reporter of 2012. It’s our annual recognition of the year’s most skewed and biased coverage of Israel and the Mideast conflict.
Make your voice heard and please choose one of the five nominees below, along with a brief explanation of your choice. (You may also nominate someone else not on the list). We’ll announce the ignoble winners in a few weeks.
There are three ways to vote:
- Post a comment below.
- Post a comment on HonestReporting’s Facebook page.
- Send an email to action@honestreporting.com
The five nominees (in no particular order)
- Gideon Levy: Haaretz journalist, for a survey dishonestly concluding that Israelis support racist, apartheid policies.
- Vincent Browne: Veteran Irish journalist, who called Israel a “cancer” on TV.
- 60 Minutes: For the CBS News show’s imbalanced look at the status of Christians in the Holy Land.
- The Guardian: For flying in the face of reality and insisting that Tel Aviv is Israel’s capital.
- Khulood Badawi: UN staffer whose false photo tweet demonizing Israel went viral.
Due to the volume of mail, we can’t acknowledge nominations. For old times sake, see who HonestReporting readers gave the 2011 awards to.

60 Minutes: For the CBS News show’s imbalanced look at the status of Christians in the Holy Land for being complicit in the destruction of Christian communities by covering up the crimes committed against the Christian community, in order to smear Israel.

Gideon Levy, a supposed “reporter,” has the dubious distinction of being a self-loathing Jew who is so frightened of being taken for a Semite that he would rather destroy his brethren than stand up to the arab bullies and jihadi infiltrators who have made it clear that they intend to destroy Israel and, as Egyptian-born Yasser Arafat (Hanan Ashrawi’s boss) declared: “Make the streets run red with Jewish blood.” I think he’s skeeeered that the cray will do him the same way they offed Danny Pearl. I also think Gideon Levy is a stalking horse for those who hope to start a bloody war throughout the middle east.

Gideon Levy, because the Israel-haters have a special love for Jews and Israelis who hate Israel.

I eliminate Vincent Brown and Khulood Badawi because being an idiot is not the same as being dishonest. I also eliminate ‘The Guardian’ for the same reason and because it is a newspaper and not a person. Choosing between Bob Simon and Gideon Levy is another matter. They are both examples of ‘reporters’ who filter the world through spectacles of biased lenses. They see things as they perceive them and break the primary journalistic rule that honest reporters must be objective. Bob Simon is my ultimate choice. He abuses the integrity of ’60 Minutes’, known for centrist positions. Haaretz however is known to be leftist so Levy’s dishonesty is no real surprise.

60 Minutes due to the fact of such a huge audience, the video now all over the net, and the sick reality that Christian persecution and murder daily is out of control in the M.E. Asia and Africa in all the Muslim countries that is
The Guardian,Brown, and Levy its to be expected of them by now..
Khulood Badawii is a Muslim,ditto
I also throw a rotten cranberry award to the dipsh*t self-hating duo of Jeffrey Goldberg and Tom Friedman, 2 that are consistently spitting n the wind of truth

Gideon Levy as dishonest reporter of the year.
His prize: a one way trip to Syria, where he can do his surveys there.
Unlike Israel, which allows Arab citizens equal rights to work, attend schools and universities, and get elected to Parliament, he forgets that Israelis are not given
the same rights in Arab countries. He forgets how Israeli hospitals have opened their doors to all
in need, whether Arab or Israeli.
Perhaps once in Syria he will miss Israel, the only democratic country in the Middle East.

Gideon Levy wins hands down.
Not only does he make no effort to hide his hatred of his own country, as an Israeli reporter he has access to more resources and it would take relatively little effort to validate his mus-information.

My Goodness. Many of the Nominees are blithe-individuals. But; …unashamedly, The Guardian is a “brain trust” worthy of this Dishonest Reporter’s award. We would all be on a Fool’s Errand given this contemptible entity’s charge in a Mapping Company servicing GPS facilities. …I guess, all said and done, — “Extremism that reflects scrupulous lies is a heinous-virtue….” My congratulations to, “The Guardian”; well done.

It is unfair to give Gideon Levy the Dishonest Reporter of 2012. He’s been bashing Israel for so many years with all kinds of misinformation and vicious lies that he should get the Lifetime Achievement Award.
For 2012 I vote for Bob Simon from 60 minutes for his slanted report on Paleostinian Christians and how they go the way of dinosaurs.

The Guardian has my vote for the most dishonest reporting. They attempted to establish a dangerous precedent of determining a foreign country’s capital and territorial boundaries and having it accepted as being valid. They went beyond the bounds of ‘free speech’. They lied and misled; they went against the ethics of their profession.

Gideon Levy is the worst of an evil lot.
He fits into the tradition of the medieval converts to Christianity who baselessly slandered the Jews; and the modern communist/leftist tradition of leftist Jews who betrayed real Jews to the communist secret police, also using baseless libels.
