Were the Activists Really Unarmed?

It’s apparently from the same protest that featured the IDF officer striking one of the protestors in the face with his gun. Some are claiming the protester is holding a knife in his hand.
Were the protesters really involved in a “peaceful march” as depicted in the media or are claims that the video of the event selectively edited out protesters violence true?

This individual had no knife, what you are seeing is actually the corner of the fringe of the kefiyyeh of his friend, who was in proximity.
If you watch the video carefully, after 0:21, you’ll notice this fellow with the purple shirt going to the aid of the injured Swede, and then being manhandled, and you can see that the kefiyyeh of his friend waves around his arm, and from the opposite angle (which is what is seen in this photo) it seems he’s holding something, but it’s just the end of the kefiyyeh string

As a regular reader of a dozen big French and German papers I am aware that police blunders involving harrassment, beatings, undue confinement and even killings will happen from time to time. The victims tend to be young, poor, dark-skinned and foreign-looking European citizens, or protesters at demonstrations.
The military stays put, of course, since we are not under attack. But I would not recommend to go and throw sharp stones at them, after the Palestinian fashion.
