I think he his speech was wonderful but he should have said, not for the congress but for the media coverage, that Israel`s good will was reflected in Gaza when all the jewish settlements were evacuated and the response was qassam rockets.

Michael Dar speaks well. There is more data. Did UN resolution 242 call for defensible borers? Who will speak to the unequivocal intent of Hamas and the PA [PLO] to ‘push the Zionist entity into the sea? Who will speak to the Muslim\’Palestinian’ forcing Jews and Christians and other ‘infidels’ to leave Iraq, Iran, Syria, etc? Who will name the basic creed of the Middle east as orthodox Qur’an, with its intent that the world be Muslim?
Who will point out that in NO previous international dispute\war has the ‘right of return’ been a ‘right’. [more accurately, I know of none. Does anyone?]
Preaching to the ‘choir’ is not going to change the anti JEW [not Semitic] position of too much of the world, especially not the Muslim world.
I find it frustrating to see the use by Israelis of euphemisms, especially anti Semitic’.

Bibi said what he had to say. Obama forgot one important point. Peace in this case is a 2 part transaction. The sponsoring third party has to stay quietly in the background during face to face negotiations, and maybe intervene privately.

Obama detailing the conditions in advance is a no-no. If you are interested in buying a house, you don’t tell the seller in advance how high you’ll go, nor does the seller preliminarily mention how low a price he’ll accept.

    It’s the same principle here.

He made us proud. I wish the US had someone of his caliber. Then we might have a chance.
Israel must stress PR more. Examples: 1) Hammer home the fact that there are Jewish refugees. Some Jews lived in Iraq even before the rise of Mohammed. Who is going to pay them back for all their possessions which were confiscated? 2) The Palestinians already have a state–it is Jordan. These things have to be repeated loudly and often…

I agree – there are other points that need to be constantly corrected too. For example, Hamas does not “refuse to recognize Israel’s right to exist”. Rather, Hamas “calls for the destruction of the State of Israel and expulsion of all Jews from the area”. Also, the fact that Israel took territories from Jordan and Egypt needs to be asserted – the way things are reported, it sounds like there was a Palestinian state in these areas pre-67.
Sometimes we ourselves are so close to the issues we ceast to notice the abundant misinformation being promulgated.

BiBi stated the exact problem: Refusal of Arabs to accept a Jewish State in their neighborhood. Talk about aparteid!!. The terrorists held in Israel should be “reprogrammed” with facts about Arabs in Israel and physically expressed by many Arabs in Israeli hospitals, the fact that Arabs serve in the Knesset, go to the same universities, and serve as professionals in many industries. You need to present video proof of these facts and make the terrorists watch the video over and over again until their brains see the truth. It will set them free. That’s the only way to prevent terrorism growth among Arabs for the current and next generations.

The ephasis by both President and PM Netenyahu was what the Israelis have to do to get peace. Not enough is being said about expectations of the Arabs and Palestinians. Hate continues to be taught and celebrations of terrorists are continuing. Israelis are perceived as not belonging in the region. When Palistinians and Arab states accept Israel as a Jewish state peace will be possible through negotiations.

I was greatly impressed by Netanyahu’s speech.

Its straightforward, unambiguous content, its absence of ostentation and over dramatic hyperbole and toothy grins made it a speech worthy of the Prime Minister of Israel.

His stance and demeanor, not as a supplicant but as a proud and determined equal, obviously impressed and was welcomed by his audience.

    Carry on Mr. Prime Minister.

We must understand we have reached the bottom line and must fight by all means for our survival. I have been saying for decades now that the world never really wanted a Jewish state in the first place and only waited for the appropriate time, political mood, public opinion and historical events to progressively get rid of us. This time has come! I wrote an essay (in French) more than 10 years ago in which I more or less predicted where things were leading to and explained why. French speaking people who would want to receive it can contact me: simba11@bezeqint.net We have to stop “apologizing” for our existence and for defending ourselves. Our back is against the wall and we will have to use all our gray-cells, energy, courage and resolve to extract us from the trap set for us by the “world”. Remember there was not a single prolonged period in history in which we didn’t have to fight for our survival.

overall quite impressive, but. more self mutilations? seems like a review of the very basic premisses is lacking and this permits jumping into the middle looking for something israel should give from its own minimalist self. start from the beginnings and the whole paradigm will be changed- which is what is needed in order to look for the solutions in the right place. at any rate o was put in his right place and that in itself was quite helpful for now.

Other then recognizing Isreal what demands are made of the Palistinians what compermise is asked of them? Recognize Isreal is a reality not a compermise. What gaanties is Isreal given for security the same ones for leaving Gaza?
At least Isreal is talking peace to the world and at home the Palastinian leadership says one thing to the world in English and and a diffrent story in Arabic to there own people.
Talk peace and pray for the distruction of Isreal at the same time does not create an incentive for Isreal to take any chances for its survival.

Very impressed with tone and substance of PM Netanyahu speech, this particularly in consideration of his initial angry tone following President Obama speech. I am very hopeful if these two world leaders act in concert the outcome will prove beneficial for all parties and particularly to the benefit of Israel and its security concerns.
Also impressed that PM Netanyahu gave powerful emphasis to the fate of IDF member Shalit, a lone soldier used as a pawn in the brutalizing power grab of Hamas and its partners. This is truly a violation and crime under UN Human Rights Council, played out against a single brave individual and bringing shame on its perpetrators. HN

I thought that the Prime Minister gave a well thought out and reasoned factually correct speech. His critics don’t like it because they believe that the Palestinians won’t like it and won’t be drawn into renewed discussions. But, Netanyahu’s remarks were temperate and focused on two important things: 1. The overarching importance of making a meaningful and secure peace between Israel and the Palestinians; and 2. The reality that, as of now, there is no Palestinian with whom peace is possible. As noted in today’s Miami Herald, the Palestinians (an echo from a comment made years ago by Abba Eban) the still never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity.

Just because the rest of the world, including most of Europe, is willing to jump on the Palestinian bandwagon, Israel should not let itself be forced into taking suicidal actions. The key obstacle to peace is Palestinian intransigence and the refusal to accept even the idea of a Jewish state with a right to exist as their neighbor. The focus should not be on Israel but on those who would partner with Hamas. Israel is better off being secure than gambling its existence on the good will of those people.

I was very impressed with PM Netanyahu’s speech to congress. He gave the facts and laid out Israels position. If Obama does not heed then he must accept the consequences. What democratic country in the world would put up with missiles & rockets being fired into their country & at their people as Israel have had to. I am ashamed of western countries who do not recognise the position Israel is in. The Palestinians gave up their right to becoming a state in 1948 when they said NO to a two state region. They endorse Hamas & their views towards Israels annihilation. Are people so blind they cannot see or do they just follow along like sheep or maybe they just dont care. Israel needs to have defensible borders especially in light of Hamas, Hezbollah & irans threats. I admire Mr netanyahu’s brave stance. I am especially pleased that he mentioned the plight of Gilad Schalit. He needs to go home. His parents need him back. I was in Israel in April and seen first hand the misery & anxiety of this young mans family. No word from him, no human rights visits – that is a war crime on the part of Hamas and anyone who supports them in my book.

I’d like to hear it stressed just how much land Arabs have in comparison to the little strip they begrudge Jews having. Also how Muslims already have 2 religious capitals (Mecca and Medina) yet they begrudge the Jews having one. Many of them pray with their bottoms facing Jerusalem.

When will this “two state solution” nonsense stop? It is not their land, never was, never will be. They can have autonomy but not within the biblical borders of Israel. Even the pretense of willingness to negotiate puts holes in our case. It continues to suggest that, with the right attitude, “they” will be offered the opportunity to exercise their right to sovereignty. Nonsense. THEY occupy OUR land.

Bibi did say, I believe, that they can be full citizens of Israel and be loyal to the Jewish state and abide by the Noahide laws. That is the best we can offer. Take it or leave it.
