A big problem for Israel – and even bigger if the US either supports the resolution of abstains instead of vetoeing it.

For Israel it woul’d be easier to accept a palestinian independent country because it is easier to attack another country who sends missiles than to attack “civilians” and get criticized for doing so. And that is why Arafat never really wanted to form an independent country even if he said so.

If the UN supports a Palestinian state it must make a firm compromise to watch carefully that the new independent state complies with international law and sanction any violations of this law; a thing it can not do now because the palestinians have a national authority but not a nation member of the UN. Now, the big question: “Is the UN, dominated by anti israeli countries willing to punish the palestinians if they violate international laws???”…I don’t think so.

If the UN recognizes a so-called “Palestine” as a member ( and the General Assembly can do so legally ONLY if allowed by the Security Council allows it to consider such an option) and given the so-called Palestinian Authority record of terrorism and incitement it would demonstrate even to the politically inept the moral bankruptcy of the UN just as the infamous Zionism is Racism canard did 36 years ago!

The Palestinians have shown time and again, that they are not interested in a two state solution. They are not covert in their mission. It is to obliterate Israel from the map. Hopefully the world and Israel will pay little attention to what the Palestinian sympathizers in the UN say. I think most Israel supporters and people who are well versed and educated in the history of the region AND educated in the history of the UN will completely ignore their proclamations, but…that being said, it lends legitmacy in some international circles for the UN to support a Palestinian state. It will delay what really needs to happen and that is for Abbas to stand up and say Israel has a right to exist within peaceful borders IN ARABIC.

This will bring up an interesting point. Does Israel truly have a right to exist? On whose authority? The UN’s? And if so, why is NO ONE concerned about Palestine’s right to exist?Netanyahu cries about their 9 width in one place. But Palestine has a state already split in half. This situation is always so heavily slanted toward the Israelis that it is laughable. They should have been allowed to immigrate to Palestine in 1948. But not take over another country and kill and force people out. Isn’t that in many ways similar to what happened to the Jews in Europe? They are doing what the US did to Indians and blacks during the founding of our country. Haven’t we learned a damn thing from this kind of horrific colonial behavior? I bet everyone on this board thinks that if they were around during the Trail of Tears or American Slavery that they would have stood up against it. And yet here we go again and in the US it is practically forbidden to say anything against Israel or you will be labeled an anti-semite like Jimmy Carter was simply for speaking the truth. No more US support for ISRAELI APARTHEID! We have suffered enough in the US because of this nonsense. I say make them all live together in a REAL DEMOCRACY. Jews can call it Israel. Palestinians can call it Palestine. Kind of like Holland/The Netherlands. The current situation is NOT democratic by any means.

How can the UN recognize an independent Palestine when Gaza and the West Bank have separate governments (using the term loosely)? To me, it’s putting lipstick on a pig.

Correct – After all the wars (1967 and 1973) Israel must hold firm to the land they spent their blood on. After 1948 the UN does not have the right to define Israel’s borders.

The Palestinians should also realize that once they become an actual country, they will suffer from the actions of their government. If Hamas launches rockets into Israel, Israel might declare war and strike back with utter ferociousness. All it really would take is one rocket hitting a grammar school or a hospital. I don’t think they are ready for that kind of responsibility. After all, they train their children to hate. Who does that?

It will be almost a fatal mistake. There is no such people called Palestians. The Emporor of Rome,Haydrain, did not like the Jewish people, or the land. Therefore, the people of Israel were called Palestinans, and the land name was changed to Palestine.
The Arab people stole the title for polotical reasons. God gave the land that the Arabs want to Israel. Israel is the only country that GOD gave a deed to. The UN and the rest of the world should leave the people of Israel alone. If our country were in Israel’s shoes, we wouldn’t another state that is full of hate, and a bunch of cut throats. This is why Israel should not have a seprate state.
All of this started, when Sarah told Abraham to sleep with Hagar, her maid. They losted some of their faith. When Sarah had Isaac, this was the son that GOD told Abraham that he would bless and become the great leaders of Israel.

I say let them have their own country and this way Israel can say “YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN NOW” and they must get their own electricity, their own water, their own everything; things they now get from Israel, even if this of curse is not publicized by the anti Israel press.

If this happens, remember that an independent state can form alliances and import arms quite openly. It can even ask Russia for a nuclear facility. It can ask for air cover. If it is attacked because it is still waging war against Israel it can ask for help from the U.N. who will pass a resolution asking member states to give a Libyan type air support or even ask them to send in troops. Israel will never be permitted to defend itself properly.

Hmmm, you raised some excellent and valid points that I had not thought about. One one hand I think if there was a new fakestinian state that attacked Israel, then Israel can respond mightily (I hope) without getting accused of being racist Nazi aggressors.
OTOH, those bastards in ham-ass are being armed as it is anyway, will it make a difference if they had a state or not.
OTOH, would the left of the world and the UN shut their arab pandering pie holes and let it go if Israel was attacked by another legitimate state, and Israel defended itself? Maybe not … so Israel would have no benefit at all from a new state for the arabs carved out from yet MORE Jewish land.
I have my own ideas for a solution to the issue but they are not necessarily “politically correct”.

The reality is that the UN will pass the fatwa recognising a Palestinian state. It would be interesting from a legal point of view how they can recognise a state within an existing sovereign state as Jordan no longer claims the land Israel captured from it in 1967. Israel needs to live with this and guide the UN fatwa to include “subject to Palestinians recognising state of Israel” The real issue is that Jerusalem stay united under Israeli control and that Jews have access to other religious sites in Judea and Samaria. A land swop is the way to go. “Note if missiles are fired thereafter into Israel this would be an act of war” and should be treated accordingly by Israel.
An interesting counter proposal for a UN resolution would be to only allow countries that are recognised democracies in the UN to vote on any future UN resolutions. This would really show the UN up for what it has become.

The stupidity of all this is that the Arabs was offered this right in the very beginning, when the Jewish state was being made. What did they do, they turned it down & went to live in tents in Jordan & all the other countries around that area. They claim that they was kicked out of the land, but the Jewish people who was moving into the land paid them for it. So this land they claimed they was kicked out of is the biggest lie going, as those Arabs who owned the land was paid for it all. so the lie that the so called refugees need to be remunerated by the Jewish state is a total lie again, as they have & was already paid, for the land they came from. As for the Palestinian state as I said they was offered that in 1946 / 7 anyone who checks the history records can see that this is true. As for the Muslim people they are getting into such a position that surrounds Israel, so they can commit Genocide of the Hebrew people, Things are now happening so fast that all we can do is to pray & to keep looking up as the word tells us to do. For anyone who does not know the Lord I ask you now to pray to our Lord & saviour Jesus For Protection.
God Bless

Should the UN be so foolish as to agree to a Palestine State in Jerusalem and American condones it, God help us all. God’s word is as true today as it was in ancient times and it states “Woe to them that divide my land”. That means the UN, America or any other countries or entitiy should be warned. Please don’t feel that because conditions have gotten progressively worse in the world that God is asleep, it only means that God’s time is not our time, but rest assured what He says in His word, He will do. So it behooves the UN, American or any other nation that feels they could trample on God’s words, that one day, In God’s time, grave retribution will come from the hand of God. Please remember that God calls Israel “The Apple of His eye”. Take warning and live.

The UN will have delegated itself to history’s rubbish pile of failed institutions. It will have denied everything it professes to hold dear: human rights, democratic values, free speech, true peace, etc., etc., etc. Future generations will scornfully look back on the U.N. as having sold it’s soul to terrorists.

The Palestinians have a state, it’s name is Jordan. They can join the 70% Palestinian population there with their relatives and co-Muslims.
The entire argument is a complete joke. They never had a State and there is no reason to assume that they could even run one if they got it.
I can’t understand their claim on either practical or historical terms. Just because you feel that you have been victimized doesn’t automatically allow you to pick out what recourse you might prefer to solve your problem, especially when doing so victimizes others.

Israel should take the following defensive measures.
1) Pass first reading of a bill which annexes the areas of major Jewish settlement.
2) Declare a referendum among East Jerusalem Arabs to be supervised by the international community including only countries appoved by Israel. Israel should announce that if the East Jerusalemites will not be Israeli citizens or residents they will lose all Bituach Leumi priveleges as well as access to Israeli hospitals. They will not be eligible to work in West Jerusalem or anywhere else in Israel
3) that residents of the villages South of 443 and in similar areas near Gush Etzion will
not be able to continue working in Israel.
4) No land route between the West Bank and Gaza should be allowed.
5) Security issues should be addressed by the understanding that attacks from the West Bank will be met by re-occupation and further annexation including the Jordan Valley including expulsion from militarily sensitive area.
6) expulsion of those Israelis remaining voluntarily in the West Bank would result in the complete cessation of all services including water, electricity, use of ports etc.

Creating a state within a state is always tricky.
But when 1/3 of the future citizen has sympathy for the horrific massacre of a Jewish family, it’s a recipe for genocide. Not so hard to figure out.

Since even Israel has publicly announced support for the “two state solution”, support of the UN for a new Palestinian state in not a problem. But the main question is – what are the borders of that new state? If UN mandates the “original” 1948 borders as a part of its support, then it is a problem.
