What happened?
Amidst a wave of stabbing, shooting and car ramming attacks against Israelis, the IDF shut down “Palestine Today,” a Palestinian Islamic Jihad radio/television station that had been broadcasting incitement to violence. The International Federation of Journalists had this to say:
The International Federation of Journalists (IFJ), which represents 600,000 journalists across the globe, stands by its affiliate the Palestinian Journalists Union (PJS) in condemning this brutal attack against free press and ask for UN immediate reaction to the escalation of attacks against the press in the occupied territories.
The IFJ further accused Israel of a “wave of violence targeting journalists.”

What did the IFJ choose to ignore?
An organization of journalists should appreciate the importance of balance and context. Which is why it is particularly galling that the IFJ didn’t mention in its statement that Palestinian Islamic Jihad is designated as a “terror organization” by Australia, Canada, the European Union, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
By way of background, the IFJ might also have mentioned that this is the same designation those countries apply to groups such as Islamic State (ISIS), Al Qaeda and Boko Haram.
An organization of journalists should also appreciate the importance of research, which is why it is especially hypocritical that the IFJ didn’t disclose that the broadcaster does in fact glorify and encourage the killing of Israelis, such as in this example of Palestine Today’s “journalism”:
Israeli Member of Knesset and long-time professional journalist Yair Lapid explained in a statement to the IFJ that:
Freedom of the press does not extend to terrorist propaganda and to those who incite to murder. The content on Palestine Today would not pass the editorial guidelines of any of your members. I was a journalist for over three decades; this isn’t journalism. This isn’t free speech, this is hate speech. You are not defending press freedom; you are defending incitement to murder.
Not all “journalists” are actually journalists.
This is not the first time the IFJ has attempted to treat terrorists as if they were bona fide journalists. The Newseum, a museum dedicated to media, in Washington, D.C. commemorates journalists who have been killed “in the line of duty.” In 2013 the Newseum initially commemorated Mahmoud Al-Kumi and Hussam Salama, who had officially claimed to be journalists. When it came to light that the two were actually Hamas operatives engaged in terror activities, the Newseum defied pressure from the IFJ and others, and removed the two terrorists from its commemoration list.

When terror organizations hijack the designation “journalist” for their own nefarious ends, they tarnish the profession as a whole. The IFJ might have objected to this practice, but instead it chose to defend it. In its misguided support for terrorists, the IFJ does a disservice not only to hundreds of recent Israeli victims, but also to the thousands of actual journalists whom they claim to represent.

IFJ is the best example of the saying “My mind is made up, don’t confuse me with facts.”
What a deafening silence from these anti-Semites about all the journalists jailed in Turkey and government take-over of an opposition newspaper.
The rest of the media that is biased against Israel with a subtlety just under the radar of those not sensitized to it, the CBC, BBC, CNN, etc. is no different than these bogus journalists and the organizations that support them. They too propagate hate and we have the rise in anti-semitism today disguised as justice for palestinians. The Jew averse people know almost nothing about palestinians, middle east history, Israel. Nor do they need to know because the media is giving them the words and attitude that fuels and thrills their violence, ignorance and bullying toward Jews.
Geez…same old, same old anti-semitism. Stop pretending, “journalists,” that it is anything else. You people don’t deserve jobs in “journalism” if that’s what we are pretending you do.
Six hundred thousand journalists around the world. Let’s see now, how many billions of Muslims are there again (and that would make how many journalists?) This in Muslim nations, most of which control the news they allow their residents to read; then we have the journalists in dictatorships, where the news is also controlled. So apparentl;y it is only when the democratic state of Israel chooses to do what most of the world’s presses actually do that the “journalists” get up in arms. What else is new? These “journalists” are subject to reading the same biased news reports on Israel and Palestine as everyone else in their countries, so they know practically nothing anyway.

What exacerbates an already bad situation is the amount of foreign journalist presence on Israeli soil. When you take the amount of foreign journalists per capita in each country, Israel’s journalist situation is clearly disproportionate. Many of these journalists are rookies and know nothing about the Middle East conflict let alone the Middle East. They arrive at Ben Gurion Airport already biased so it is no surprise that the IFJ is anti-Israel even when Israel defends itself.
The journalist federation should think how they would react if one of their member was killed by a terrorist incited by this radio station. Would they continue to spew their despicable anti-Semitic venom?
Love it they call the shutting down of a terrorist spawning media site “brutal”–NOT The murderous terrorism of the radical Muslims!
Can any rational person not believe that the Left has totally lost it grip on truth and honesty? No wonder so many people don’t trust them anymore.

I am happy that Israel has what it takes to differenciate from honest journalism to pure anti-semitism and incitement. It was the right thing to do. I wish we had the courage to do the same thing at Universities and Colleges all over the U.S. that spew anti-Israel retoric that is also pure anti-Semitism. Students allied to the BDS and other Palestinian organizations should look at the Muslim communities all over the world that are killing thousands including christians and muslims and realize that Israel is the only Democracy in the middle east where 1.5 Million Israeli-Arabs live and have the same rights as other Jewish Citizens.
It is up to Israel’s supporters to educate Israel’s opponents. Those opponents in China, Russia, France, Spain, and all of the Middle East should be told this:

Shut down these bloody journalist inciters and they will know they are NOT the law and cannot bully Israel with impunity.
