NY Daily News Disinfects BDS

Omar Barghouti
Here’s something I never saw before: After Omar Barghouti was given op-ed space in the NY Daily News to explain the anti-Israel boycott-divestment-sanctions movement (BDS for short), the paper itself slammed Barghouti with a staff-ed.
It’s one thing to present dueling op-eds. But responding with a sharply worded staff editorial — which represents the paper’s official view — is much stronger. I also liked the staff-ed’s style. Bloggers would refer to the point-by-point refutations as a fisking.
The Daily News even labeled Barghouti as a “propagandist.”
Skilled as a propagandist, he piles falsehood upon falsehood to present Israel as relentlessly oppressing the Palestinians in violation of human decency, and to hold Israel exclusively responsible for the ills afflicting them.
And so, he says, Israel must be hit with BDS — a boycott of commerce, divestment from the country’s economy and economic sanctions.
Let’s catalog his distortions . . .
I’m glad the paper published Barghouti in his own words. Sunlight is indeed a dynamic disinfectant.

2 thoughts. He talks about himself as a Palestinian, but he was born in Qatar. Also, he supports an academic boycott of Israel, while also studying for a Phd at Tel Aviv University! “A private matter” as he says, whenever he is questioned about this. Just a racist pig.

He does not deserve to be compare to apes and pigs. He is much lower, in a non-existing category.
He is a fabrication like all the other members of the tribe.
The future of Israel is in the hands of the Israelis and Zionists. The West & the Muslims are the enemy.

In response to BDS Oxford University and George Galloway’ refusal to talk to Israeli.
The British universities are voting to boycott Israeli goods and if it comes to boycotting even Israeli students they will shoot themselves, not in the foot, but in the head. Firstly, they lose highly educated academic students who contribute their knowledge and expertise to the British Academic system. Israelis do not even try to impose their religious beliefs onto the British or any other student enjoying the privilege of being able to study higher standards of education in UK. as these esteemed universities ease out Israeli students, they make room for extreme Islamists who do come continued..

with an agenda which is not to achieve an excellent education, but to impose their dark-age religious beliefs on British students and British society. With banners of “Death to Israel” and “Free Palestine” they reveal their pre-planned agenda which is not to gain a respected education, but to eradicate knowledge in the centuries old prestigious halls of learning. not so slowly, one will see dress codes change to Burka and full-body veil; prayers to Allah five times a day in the prestigious corridors of time-honored halls of higher education; demands to university deans to build mosques and to take down any symbols of Christianity in an effort to erase any signs of .. continued

time-honored religious faiths and a ploy that symbols of Christianity offend the sensitivities of the Muslim in our modern and open societies.
George Galloway walked out and showed his disdain for dialogue and reason and on top of it all, made a complete ass of himself.
Does George Galloway represent the British people’s attitude working for peace?

Galloway did not walk out because he was debating an Israeli, he walked out because he knew his lies would be exposed. A typical coward.

The Daily News did it right. It allowed a BDS advocate who’s opinion resembles propaganda not factual opinion. Michael Oren spoke at a college in California and the “Palestinians” if they were even middle Easterners, tried to shout him down. When a Daily News reporter and two students at a rally on a Brooklyn Campus were recognized as Jewish they were evicted because the two students were preparing to hand out fliers offering another opinion the Daily News Reporter just happened to be in the wrong place? Last year Palestinians met in closed sessions to discuss forwarding a one state solution for Israel. The PLA can not win in the open forum of ideas, bigotry never can.
