For many Palestinian children, exposure to extremist ideology begins long before they are old enough to understand the consequences of violence.

Reports examining Palestinian school materials used in UNRWA schools have identified lessons that glorify martyrdom, demonize Israel, and promote antisemitic stereotypes. Outside the classroom, Hamas-run children’s television programs have also featured messages encouraging hatred and violence against Jews.

But the indoctrination does not end with education or entertainment.

Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad have organized youth camps where children participate in military-style drills, weapons training, and simulations of attacks against Israelis. Propaganda materials, including children’s books, puzzles, and toys resembling weapons, have also been used to normalize violence and portray terrorists as role models.

Israeli forces have additionally reported discovering photographs of young children dressed in Hamas clothing and posing with weapons, illustrating how extremist messaging can extend into family and community life.

These examples raise serious questions about the environments in which some Palestinian children are being raised and the organizations responsible for shaping their worldview.

Palestinian children deserve an education that prepares them for a future beyond conflict, not one that glorifies violence and terrorism.

As long as extremist indoctrination remains unchallenged, efforts to build lasting peace will face another obstacle: a generation being taught to see violence as a virtue rather than a tragedy.
