Uh-oh:

Washington Free Beacon

Bad news for the BDS movement:

  1. China to share content with Israeli TV
  2. Israel to supply Australia with battle management system

Elder of Ziyon has a nicely updated list of the growing number of universities rejecting  the ASA’s boycott of Israel. Goucher College‘s denunciation was especially sharp. Some Trinity College professors tried to give the boycott some traction, but failed miserably. And New York lawmakers are talking about a proposed law that would strip state aid from colleges maintaining ties with the ASA.

Meanwhile, Temple professor Carolyn Karcher took to the LA Times to explain why she supports the boycott. Karcher was responding to a recent Michael Roth commentary. Meanwhile, Jeffrey Goldberg writes:

The American Studies Association has never before voted to boycott the academic institutions of another country. The organization’s president, Curtis Marez, an associate professor of ethnic studies at the University of California at San Diego, told the New York Times, when its reporter asked him why his group was singling out Israel, that, “one has to start somewhere.”

Historically, of course, it has often been easiest to start — and end — with the Jews. The ASA resolution is an abomination to those who believe in intellectual freedom, but what gives it its special piquancy is its chosen target.

Howard Segal also weighs in on the boycott.

Memo to Giles Fraser: If Palestinian suicide bombers were blowing themselves up around the St. James’s Church in Piccadilly, church leaders would build a wall too.

Israel resumes fuel supplies to Gaza power plant.

Israel should learn from Egypt’s stubborness against Washington, argues Mordechai Kedar.

Rest O’ the Roundup

Bugs and PorkyThis has to be one of the year’s best corrections. Thank goodness Haaretz managed to squeeze this in before the end of 2013. That’s all folks!

Correction: An earlier version of this article erroneously stated that Bugs Bunny’s most notorious enemy is Porky Pig. While the two are known to frequently squabble, often in the public eye, they are in fact good friends.

Iranian officials say they are developing a new generation of centrifuges that would enable them to speed up uranium enrichment. And according to AP, they may have already installed some of those centrifuges in one of their enrichment sites, which would violate the Geneva agreement.

Amir Taheri: Washington’s feeling buyer’s remorse about the Geneva deal.

Ouch. Fatah called on Hamas to distance itself from the Muslim Brotherhood.

Watching Turkey, Spengler says I told you so.

According to Arab media reports, Hezbollah has used European, Australian and Canadian passports to plan and carry out terror attacks against Israeli interests in Turkey, Jordan, Egypt, Cyprus, Greece and Azerbaijan. The Times of Israel writes:

In most cases, the passports had belonged to Lebanese dual citizens residing in Europe, the official said.

Lebanon’s National Media Council reminded its news services that it’s illegal to seek comments from Israeli officials, which is considered “promotion of the enemy.” According to the Daily Star, the reminder was prompted after one Lebanese newscast “allegedly” quoted an IDF source on the recent cross-border shooting.

Hmmmmm. The NY Times launched an online survey to investigate Hungarian anti-Semitism.
