To answer this question, it is first necessary to note there are two MSMs now: The Old Media and the New Media. The Old is the liberal left MSM which increasingly(certainly here in the US) plays to the incredible shrinking demorat base. Their influence, listenership/readership is stratified to just that smaller audience. With revenues, subscriptions, and reach in great decline, getting scooped continuously, suppressing breaking stories, and refusing to cover key events, they have become increasingly irrelevent.

The New Media, on the other hand, is going in just the opposite direction, attracting increasing audience, funding, subscribers, listeners, viewers, and appealing to the largest segment of the informed America. They break all the stories, do the scooping, provide the facts, informed editorials, and bring out the storylines fully. No storyline suppression here; no giving passes to the bad apples; no spin here. That is the new MSM—Conservative, accurate, informative, sensible, and winning.

Now, as to that old boogyman, the cycle of violence. Now that we have the New MSM(Conservative), the cov is constantly exposed as bogus. Few but the True Believers on the left believe in that and no new converts are in evidence. All polls, hard numbers, and votes show this is certainly the case. Example: after all the MSM(left) has harrangued its audience with the concept of cycle of violence, the American People dismiss it and go for the truth. It is exhibited in the steady support, poll after poll, of Americans, ordinary/elected, who support Israel and the Jewish People, and by wide margins—-60-70% support the Jewish State.

Thus the cycle of violence concept is a failed one. Instead, most of America considers that the arabs do what they do because they hate Jews so much that they just can’t help themselves and must heave rockets, missiles, and mortors into Israel. As necessary, Israel responds and blows up the evil doers. This is sad in as much as the arabs doing the shell lobbing have no hope of ever overcoming Israel. Just a rather annoying thing that Israel is quite capable of dealing with and does. So the game goes on. Too bad for the arabs; they are just losers.

It is unfortunate that only English language newspapers are targeted for attacks on Israel,France’s Le Monde is another paper that blames Israel for killing 10 Palestinians, but not mentioning the rockets hitting Israel. I am sure that Hamas feels strengthen with the support of all those newspapers mostly european news agencies who like to get on the bandwagon attacking Israel.

I think the answer is a simple one. No one loves the Jews and its more fum to wallop them that the Arabs. After all, who has the oil??? Let Israel discover a real alternate to oil and we will get all the friens we need.

Michael, it do not love any particular group of people, I love my family period. I value Jews and Israel just as I value most of my Spanish, Basque, English, and Scots heritage.

Justice is on Israel’s side. Jews deserve a homeland since every ignorant, bigoted land they traveled to during the diaspora discriminated or massacred them. Besides they purchase the land, and Muslims are very bigoted against all infidels.

Of course it does. “Cycle” is perceived as something symmetric and in this case, one side starts the cycle, the other retaliates until the end of the cycle. In the next round, the other side initiates the violence and so on. When prejudice, bias and plain Antisemitism is so rife in the world, the “cycle of violence” equates Palestinian violence with “Israeli violence”. The barrier/fence (only 2% is wall) is seen as Israeli violence and Apartheid, (see Judge Goldstone’s article today in the New York Times) whilst the only reason the barrier was built was to keep out suicide bombers. The media is quick to pick on Israeli actions of self defense, only, without citing any reason for any type of action. The recent “cycle” started when the Israeli Defense Forces targeted a squadron of terrorists about to fire a grad missile into civilian populations.

The same goes for “cycle of violence”. Israel is not willfully violent and any attempt to equate Israel with Palestinian violence is inaccurate.

By giving cover to Arab/Muslim/Palestinian terrorists and terrorism by referring to them as militants and responses to Israeli aggression, they not only contribute to terrorism but encourage it since the Arabs/Muslims/Palestinians can then see it as beneficial to their desire to destroy any vestige of Israeli legitimacy. The press can be seen as a partner in the Arab/Muslim/Palestinian anti-Israel and anti-semitic and terrorist culture by giving the Arab terrorism a pass by blaming it on the actions of Israelis and demonizing any Israeli attempt to defend themselves. The cycle of violence is the Arab/Muslim/Palestinian terrorism and the press placing it in a good light while blaming Israel resulting in another round of Arab/Muslim terrorism with good press supporting it. The press is shameless in doing this which puts all their reporting in question. Mike

I am afraid this whole question is somewhat irrelevant- With Hamas, Hizbollah, Iran, and others being part of the Muslim Brotherhood-
With this “Arab Spring” which appears to be outing despots but slowly we see the Muslim Brotherhood stepping in to fill the void- The problem is not what the press says- but what it dose not say-

And now Sarkosy says to Obama Netanyahu is a liar and Obama responds and I have to deal with him every day– Overheard at the G20 summit-

The Media gave that out quick enough.

I had an arguement with a colleague of mine about the Charta of the UN concerning “warfare”
and it’s condemnation. I said it’s about aggresive offensive actions that undermine the
sovereignty of a nation. It’s not about defence. Halacha has always been particular about
compensation for bad deeds instead of revenge. There is no compensation for murder. The
Talmud says in two, maybe more, places, that if you really know someone wants to kill you, then stand up earlier and kill him first. Retaliation and pre-emptive strikes are defence and not
a cycle. Revenge is a cycle and Jews don’t act on revenge. Maybe a lefty can tell me what I
could do to keep arabs from throwing bombs on me or shooting at my daughter. Just die, or
stop being a jew? Sorry lefty, not in this life.
