Knesset Grapples With Israel’s Poor Media Image — Without the Media

January 19, 2012 23:28 by

Oops.

A Knesset committee meeting discussed Israel’s poor media image — but Jewish News 1 points out a glaring omission:

And perhaps most surprising, not one member of a major foreign press outlet based here in Israel spoke at the meeting today– – no one from AP, BBC, or an American network.

Were Big Media reps invited — but not interested? Or did it not occur to the lawmakers to solicit some input from the foreign press corps?

Both possibilities are plausible.

And both possibilities say a lot about Israel’s poor media image.

Israel has a poor media image because it is a Jewish state. It will not make a difference what it tries to do to improve that image with the majority of the media. There are however, small pockets in the media that do understand what is really going on and do paint a positive and truthful portrait of Israel.
