When Joe Rogan suggested that “most people think” Jeffrey Epstein was connected to Mossad, JD Vance did not shut it down. He leaned in.
Speaking on The Joe Rogan Experience, the vice president speculated that Epstein had ties to intelligence agencies, including Mossad and the CIA, and claimed Epstein had connections to the highest levels of both American and Israeli intelligence. There is no public evidence that Epstein worked for Mossad, and former Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett has publicly denied the claim.
That matters because this is how antisemitic conspiracy theories enter the mainstream. They are rarely introduced with the words “Jews control everything.” Instead, they come wrapped in coded language: “deep state,” “foreign influence,” “well-funded networks,” and unnamed forces secretly controlling politics.
Rogan’s podcast has already given a platform to figures who push conspiracies about Israel, Jewish power, and global control, including Ian Carroll, who has promoted claims about Mossad, the CIA, and a “Zionist mafia.” Rogan also hosted Darryl Cooper, whose comments about Winston Churchill, Nazi Germany, and the Holocaust have drawn widespread criticism.
Vance is not just another podcast guest. He is the vice president of the United States. When someone that powerful repeats unproven claims about Israel and intelligence plots to millions of listeners, fringe ideas stop sounding fringe.
That is the danger of the dog whistle. It lets people spread an old conspiracy in newer, cleaner language, then pretend they were only asking questions.
