On his blog, Time correspondent Andrew Lee Butters calls Israel’s closure of Gaza a “siege” using the term repeatedly.
1) The goal of closing off Gaza is to isolate Hamas while minimizing the effects on the Palestinian people.
2) If the point of a siege is to not let anyone or anything in, then Israel’s not doing a very good job.
