Radio_4BBC Radio 4 planned to air a reading of “Weddings and Beheadings,” a short comedy by Hanif Kureishi, about an Iraqi cameraman who films grainy videos of hostage beheadings to make a living.

With Alan Johnston in a similar situation, the Thursday broadcast was no longer a laughing matter. Radio 4’s web site now says the reading is postponed.
