A Hamas statement calling for negotiations over the release of Cpl. Gilad Shalit is playing to the media too. The Jerusalem Post reports:
The statement urged Israeli journalists to “raise their voice high” in support of a prisoner exchange, warning that failure to release Palestinian prisoners would endanger the soldier’s life.
Is this overt ploy an act of desperation or is there something more behind it?
