Whoops, on the 10th anniversary of Yitzhak Rabin’s assassination, the NY Times says the late prime minister was shot by a settler. Last time we looked, Yigal Amir’s hometown of Herzliya was still well within Israel’s pre-1967 borders. Meanwhile, correspondent James Reynolds of the the BBC made a shrill comparison between Rabin and Ariel Sharon:
Rabin gave up land by negotiating with the Palestinians. Sharon has done it by ignoring them.
Reynolds’ report doesn’t acknowledge the Palestinian intifada, which Sharon’s policies were responding to.
UPDATE: The Times issued a correction.
