Nice report in the Christian Science Monitor on the ethics of altering news photos to add or remove elements of the image, such as cropping, airbrushing or digital manipulation. Unfortunately, we’ve seen a few photos from the Mideast conflict that did not tell the full story either. The Poynter Institute has a nifty Flash presentation explaining how one LA Times photographer in Iraq was caught creating a dramatic composite image by blending two shots. (The photographer was fired.)
