ReporterPresident Bush’s visit to Israel has renewed MSM interest in the King David Hotel. It’s best known for being blown up in 1946 by the Irgun, when the hotel also served as the British military command’s headquarters.

AP writes:

The King David, which opened in the 1930s, is best known for getting blown up by Jewish terrorists in 1946.

Meanwhile, the Sunday Telegraph writes:

Jewish militants killed 91 people there in a 1946 bomb attack on British colonial officials.

We haven’t seen Reuters address this angle but it’s just as well. As our colleagues at CAMERA explain, Reuters editors will just tie themselves in knots. So much for MSM consistency.

UPDATE Jan. 7: A month ago, this AP report described the Irgun as “militants.” So much for AP’s own consistency:

That made it a target for Jewish militants fighting to drive the British out.

Interestingly, AFP avoided the whole issue by just describing the Irgun as “an underground Zionist group.”
