IDF forces killed Ali Sweiti, a wanted Hamas fugitive, after he barricaded himself in a house and fired on soldiers trying to arrest him.
His rap sheet (I'll come back to that) screams "terror," but AP calls Sweiti an "activist."
Here's Sweiti's record of "activism," courtesy the IDF Spokesperson blog:
- October 3rd, 2000: Shooting at an Israeli vehicle traveling near Shekef, west of Hebron.
- November 13th, 2003: Shooting at an Israeli vehicle traveling near the Idhna Junction.
- December 18th, 2003: Shooting at an Israeli vehicle traveling near the Idhna Junction.
- April 25th, 2004: Ali Sawiti and other members of his squad executed a shooting attack in the area of Idhna Jnction. The attack killed a Border Policemen. Two additional border policemen were injured.
How many Israelis have to be shot at before AP editors realize people like Sweiti are beyond the pale of "activism?"
