The case of a Canadian-Chinese national, Huseyin Celil (pictured) is giving new meaning to the claim of Reuters’ exec Steven Jukes that “one man’s terrorist is another man’s freedom fighter.”
The background: China convicted Huseyin Celil, of passing money to a Muslim separatist group — ironically named Hezbollah — in the Guangdong province. Canada says Celil is a human rights activist and fears he was tortured. China disputes Celil’s Canadian citizenship and says Celil’s imprisonment is an internal Chinese affair.
We’re not familiar with either Celil or the Chinese separatists, but we find the International Herald-Tribune‘s use of the word “terror” very striking:

If this Hezbollah is a terror organization, what should the Herald-Trib call the other Hezbollah organization which kidnapped two IDF soldiers and fired thousands of rockets at Israel?
