The Times of London reported on the appalling shooting attack on the Chabad of Poway synagogue near San Diego, California. The story mentioned eight-year old Israeli girl Noya Dahan who was injured in the attack.
As The Times of Israel and others point out, the girl’s family moved from Sderot where their home had been hit by rockets several times over the years, and the girl’s father was injured on one of those occasions.
We contacted The Times of London to point out just how inappropriate is to simply refer to Palestinian terrorism or rocket attacks as “religious violence.”
The Times agreed and promptly removed the word “religious.” While escaping violence is vague and generic, the phrasing is no longer misleading.
