During his upcoming visit to Lebanon, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad wants to throw a symbolic stone at Israel.
Be prepared for some kind of Lebanese stunt designed to draw Israel into another media skewering.
Earlier this year, the Lebanese army and Hezbollah engineered a border flare up over what was supposed to be routine Israeli border maintenance. We raised questions of media collusion by the unexplained presence of so many international photographers.
I understand Hezbollah will be handling Ahmadinejad's security in southern Lebanon. They'll have a lot of control of the MSM's coverage through Hezbollah-issued press credentials.
Hezbollah will choose who gets to cover Ahmadinejad, keep a copy of reporters' passports, charge a fee (which raises legal questions of Western news agencies transferring money to a designated terror organization), impose minders to monitor the correspondents, and designate media restrictions as necessary.
