It’s the error that seems to pop up time and time again in various media. Nonetheless, it was particularly disappointing to see the following in a report by CNN‘s senior international correspondent Ben Wedeman:

If CNN is using the term “Riyadh” to represent Saudi Arabia’s government or state organs, then Tel Aviv certainly isn’t the Israeli equivalent.

As we pointed out to CNN, Tel Aviv is not where Israel’s government or parliament are located. They are in its capital Jerusalem.

As a result, CNN has corrected the error and issued the following at the end of the story:
