Sanad News Agency journalist Hamza Yousef Muhammad Abu Salmiya was confirmed by Hamas on October 4 to be a member of the terrorist organization.

Listed as a journalist by the International Federation of Journalists, Abu Salmiya was seen in a video engaged in military training with a variety of weaponry as well as filming Hamas drills. According to the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the supposed media worker was part of the Gaza Brigade’s Beach Battalion.

Abu Salmiya had previously been identified by the IDF, which on Thursday published a report that included an excerpt of a captured Gazan document detailing his role as an operative.

According to the IFJ, Abu Salmiya was killed alongside Al-Aqsa TV digital department head Saed Radwan and journalist Haneen Mahmoud Baroud. Al-Aqsa TV was sanctioned by the U.S. Treasury as a Hamas front in 2010.

Baroud’s affiliations are more muddled. According to the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ), she was a journalist for the “pro-Hamas” Al Majedat Media Network, but IFJ and some Palestinian sources describe her as a journalist for the Al-Quds Foundation. An organization with the same name was sanctioned by the U.S. Treasury in 2012 for Hamas ties. According to Baroud’s Instagram page, she worked with the Jerusalem Department of Hamas to produce materials and statements.
