Biography
Former Member of Knesset (MK) Rabbi Dov Lipman moved from Silver Spring, MD to Beit Shemesh, Israel in 2004 with his wife and four children. Rabbi Lipman has rabbinic ordination from Ner Israel Rabbinical College and a Masters in Education from Johns Hopkins University. The author of three books about Judaism and an experienced educator, Rabbi Lipman rose to national and international prominence for his role in challenging and combating religious extremists in Beit Shemesh. He was elected to the 19th Knesset as a member of the Yesh Atid party led by MK Yair Lapid, and was the first American-born MK in close to 30 years.
Since losing his Knesset seat in the March 2015 elections, Lipman has continued his public work in the following roles: Chairman of Anglo and Diaspora Affairs for the Yesh Atid party and Director of Government and International Affairs for the Michael Levin Lone Soldier Center and Families of Lone Soldiers. He hosts a weekly radio show on Voice of Israel called “One Nation with Dov Lipman,” serves as a political correspondent for i24 News, and writes columns for the Jerusalem Post and the Times of Israel.
