The Iranian mullahs clearly fear Neda Soltan's status as the new Mohammed al-Dura. Rather than entrust a hatchet job claiming that the viral video of Soltan's death was a fake, they gave the job to the state-run, English language Press TV.
Neda indeed became an icon in the West, and the Iranians know a thing or two about memorializing people killed in staged videos.
This is not to equate the two. France 2's footage of Dura was discredited when the network could no longer cover up its raw footage.
