Plot Twist: Haaretz Exposes IMDb for Erasing Israel

IMDb is replacing Israel with “Palestinian Territories” in industry listings - and, in a surprising twist, Haaretz exposed it.

By September 08, 2026

IMDb, the world’s main film and television database, recently replaced the name Israel with the term “the Palestinian Territories” or “the Occupied Palestinian Territories.”

Plot twist: It’s Haaretz that exposed this.

This kind of thing – IMDb’s conduct – is unfortunately becoming more prevalent across a wide range of industry websites, so I am not particularly surprised.

My only question is whether Haaretz is reporting this as a condemnation of IMDb’s conduct…or to applaud it.
