Taliban Spokesman Stresses Minority Rights on Israeli TV, Then Denies (VIDEO)

After the fall of Afghanistan to the Taliban, it has launched a media charm offensive.

A spokesman was even interviewed by Israeli national broadcaster Kan. Suhail Shaheen said Afghans had no need to be scared and people “can lead a normal life.”

Afterwards, Shaheen denied that he knowingly spoke to Israeli media.

The Taliban is eager to present itself to the West as more moderate than in the past.

It has already enjoyed some success, with a New York Times reporter taken in by the propaganda tweeting, “Taliban are actually showing they are different now”.

It remains to be seen whether the last Jew living in Afghanistan really can live in peace.
