On Sunday, Jews around the world mark 1,952 years since the destruction of the Second Temple, which sent the Jewish people into a bitter exile that would only end with the founding of the modern State of Israel in 1948. During the mourning period preceding Tisha Be’Av, HonestReporting’s staff had the privilege of ascending the Temple Mount in Jerusalem.
