How Hamas Livestreamed the October 7 Massacre

Documents recovered after the massacre revealed Hamas guidelines for livestreaming, suggesting that broadcasting it was part of the organization's preparations.

On October 7, 2023, Hamas terrorists did more than massacre Israeli civilians. They deliberately filmed and broadcast their atrocities, turning murder, kidnapping, and terror into an online spectacle.

Among the victims was 74-year-old Bracha Levinson, whose murder was livestreamed through her own Facebook account. Her family discovered what had happened after seeing the footage online.

Other families experienced similar horrors. Terrorists invaded Israeli homes, used victims’ phones to broadcast attacks on social media, and forced civilians to witness violence against their loved ones.

The filming was not simply spontaneous. Documents recovered after the massacre revealed Hamas guidelines for livestreaming, suggesting that broadcasting the attacks was part of the organization’s preparations.

Terrorists also wore GoPro cameras to record their crimes, shared footage through victims’ phones, and called family members to celebrate the people they had murdered. Former child hostages have described being forced to watch videos of the October 7 atrocities during captivity.

These recordings served a purpose beyond documenting the violence. They were intended to spread fear, humiliate victims, and amplify the psychological impact of the attacks far beyond Israel’s borders.

The October 7 massacre was not only carried out in front of cameras. Hamas used those cameras as another weapon of terror.
