VIDEO: Jerusalem – The Media Myth of Two Cities

How the media report on Jerusalem has a tremendous impact on public policy. The Palestinian Authority is claiming that Jerusalem — including the Old City — will be “restored” to Arab control as capital of their new state.
The media stubbornly clings to the notion that there are two separate cities of Jerusalem, East and West, and that the eastern half, including the Western Wall in the Old City, lacks Jewish legitimacy.
HonestReporting investigates the issue, including interviews with Jewish refugees from 1948.

When were the municipal boundaries of the present city of Jerusalem created? Were the boundaries of what is considered to be “East Jerusalem” created before or after the 1967 War? Was it annexed after the War? Were neighborhoods like Har Homa and Gilo annexed or were they part of the pre 1967 municipal boundaries if they existed?

To answer your questions and I suppose you have never been to Jerusalem or you would have known this? The original boundaries were set in the time of King David, however the old city, which includes what is called the Jewish Quarter, is surrounded by a wall built by the Ottoman Turks. The city however — as with most metropolitan areas — has expanded beyond the wall. I would give you as an example New York City, where Wall St. was once the northernmost part of the city. The area the Arabs want was taken from the Jews by Jordan during the attack by a collection of Arab nations in 1948-49 war. Jordan drove Jews from their homes in Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria for 19 years. Jordan joined Egypt and Syria in attacks in 1967 on the Jewish state, it lost what it had won. It abandoned its claim in peace treaty.i

Nice video. It is a shame that you failed to mention one fact that when I visited Jerusalem and was shown around by Israeli’s, they could not take me into the Dome of the Rock. When I questioned them of this matter, they told me that it was not safe for them to cross over to the other side.
Why have you failed to mention this?

The roman conquest of 1st century BC + the siege of Jerusalem and crushing of the jewish revolt emptied Jerusalem of a big part of its jewish population. Then the 8th century arab conquest filled the city with arabs. By the time of the crusades there were walled quarters inside Jerusalem, christian orthodox, christian armenian, jewish and the muslim majority. The crusaders slaughtered everybody, saying: “kill them all, god will recognize who are the good guys”. At the end of the 19th century, a majority of the population was jewish again.

The Media Myth of Two Jerusalems:
Media or otherwise. About 2455 years ago a fellow by the name of Nehemiah addressed that topic with his “neighbours,” Sanballat the Horonite, Tobiah the Ammonite and Geshem the Arab: “The God of heaven Himself will prosper us; therefore we His servants will arise and build, but you have no heritage or right or memorial in Jerusalem.”
The Jewish Bible mentions Jerusalem 810 times, no mentioning in the Koran. Since our friend Nehemiah, nothing has changed!
