CNN and other media outlets are portraying Israel’s recent strike inside Iran as a reckless move that defied the United States. But the reality is far more complicated — and far less convenient for the media’s preferred narrative.

Last Thursday, Israel launched Operation Rising Lion, a carefully orchestrated assault targeting Iran’s nuclear infrastructure. This wasn’t a last-minute decision. The operation was years in the making, involving the IDF, Mossad, and Israel’s top defense experts.

Explosive drones were smuggled and launched from inside Iran. Covert vehicles knocked out air defenses. Israeli agents established Mossad bases behind enemy lines to carry out precision strikes on Iran’s nuclear program, including Natanz.

In total, twenty IRGC commanders and six nuclear scientists were eliminated, delivering a major setback to Iran’s nuclear ambitions. Even Hezbollah, Iran’s longtime terror proxy, publicly distanced itself from any retaliation.

So where does U.S. involvement fit in? The media claims Israel acted unilaterally against Washington’s wishes. But according to Israeli officials, that’s not true. In fact, the U.S. pretended to oppose the strike publicly — as part of a coordinated deception effort to keep Iran off guard and ensure the success of the mission.

Just days before the strike, American diplomats were quietly holding talks with Iranian officials in Oman, helping preserve the element of surprise.

Meanwhile, Iran’s ongoing violations of its nuclear obligations had already rendered diplomacy meaningless. The UN’s nuclear watchdog recently confirmed Iran never stopped advancing its nuclear program, despite its commitments.

This strike wasn’t about rejecting diplomacy—it was about neutralizing a regime committed to Israel’s destruction. But admitting that doesn’t fit the narrative many in the media want to push.

Instead, they chose spin over truth.
