HonestReporting is delighted to announce the appointment of Simon Plosker as the organization’s Editorial Director.
Simon returns to the organization where he was previously Managing Editor from 2005 to 2020. During that time, he was instrumental in HonestReporting’s considerable success in holding the media to account. In the intervening two years, Simon has worked as Managing Editor of the Geneva-based non-governmental organization United Nations Watch.
Simon will once again take on the role of overseeing day-to-day content and output, drawing upon his many years of expertise in the field. Having lectured to various communities in Israel, the US, the UK, and South Africa, Simon is also looking forward to engaging again with as many people as possible, including students, educating on the issues surrounding media bias against Israel and the Jewish state’s image in the world.
Simon has a BSoc.Sc in International Studies and Political Science from the University of Birmingham and an MSc in History of International Relations from the London School of Economics. He immigrated to Israel in 2001 from London and has over two decades of experience in various NGOs in the UK and Israel.
“I’m really thrilled to be back home in the place where I made my professional name,” said Plosker. “The new leadership team of Jacki Alexander and Gil Hoffman has convinced me that HonestReporting is embarking on an exciting journey that I want to be a part of again.”
“So much has changed since I first joined HonestReporting nearly 17 years ago, including the impact of social media, the move away from the traditional press, and the associated rise of antisemitic discourse. What hasn’t changed, however, is my commitment to holding the media to account, ensuring Israel is fairly treated, and exposing antisemitism wherever it may be found.”
Hoffman said he was overjoyed about Plosker’s return, which he initiated.
“We are excited about having his professionalism, his credibility and his institutional memory back with us, on our dream team,” Hoffman said.
