1. According to Mideast media reports, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman secretly visited Israel last week.

2. The first Africa-Israel Summit has been called off over boycott threats, the Jerusalem Post reports. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was scheduled to meet other African heads of state in Togo in October to discuss issues such as counter-terrorism, renewable energy, agricultural technology, business ties, and more.

3. The PA arrested a Hebron man for hosting Likud MK Yehuda Glick for the Eid al-Adha holiday. Glick, who lives in the settlement of Otniel, near Hebron, is a prominent activist for Jewish prayer on the Temple Mount.

Glick tweeted photos of his visit on September 3 at the home of Muhammad Sabir Jabir, with a caption saying he was at “the home of my friend” and calling for “us all to live here in peace. Happy Eid.”

 

The Palestinian news agency Ma’an said Sunday, “it remained unclear what Jabir was being charged with.” But it confirmed from sources in the PA’s General Intelligence agency that it was due to Jabir’s hosting of Glick.

• A prominent Palestinian activist arrested for criticizing the PA on Facebook was ordered released by a PA court.

Haaretz previews what’s on the agenda for Prime Minister Netanyahu’s visit to Latin America. With stops in Argentina, Colombia and Mexico, Netanyahu is the first sitting PM to visit Latin America. Netanyahu was due to land in in Buenos Aires today. After wrapping up talks in Mexico City, the PM continues to New York for the opening session of the UN.

• The Arab League is forming a committee to thwart Israel’s push for a seat on the UN Security Council. The Palestinians fear new African support for Israel will be a game-changer. Elections for the Security Council’s 2019-2020 seats are scheduled for the summer of 2018.

• Azerbaijan pardons imprisoned Israeli blogger.

Israeli rescue teams depart for South Florida. “Delegation organized by the Israel Rescue Coalition would administer first aid and assist Jewish communities in the aftermath of Hurricane Irma.” Irma — downgraded to a tropical storm — is bearing down on Georgia.
