“I’m Not Jewish. I’m a Zionist”: The Viral Trend Defying Anti-Israel Hate

Non-Jews are proudly declaring themselves Zionists in a viral X trend, pushing back against anti-Israel hatred and showing solidarity with Israel.

By October 12, 2026

With social media – especially X – increasingly resembling an antisemitic and anti-Israel cesspool, a refreshing new trend has emerged over the past week: non-Jews proudly and publicly declaring themselves Zionists.

At a time when Israel’s detractors have worked overtime to turn “Zionist” into a dirty word, people from all walks of life are embracing the label. Unapologetically.

The exact trigger for this trend remains unclear. Perhaps it is a growing backlash against the relentless hatred directed at Israel and the Jewish people. Or perhaps it was sparked by something more specific, such as the UK Green Party’s recent adoption of a resolution equating Zionism with racism.

Whatever the catalyst, the trend has taken off on X, with non-Jews from different countries, religions and backgrounds declaring their support for the Jewish people’s right to self-determination.

Here is just a small sample of the heartwarming posts we have been seeing:

According to the Jerusalem Post, there were 613 such posts from 549 unique accounts between October 4 and October 11. Even more remarkably, 539 of those posts appeared from October 9 onward, illustrating just how rapidly the trend has gained momentum.

Naturally, the anti-Israel crowd couldn’t simply allow people to express their support for Zionism without attempting to hijack the moment. Some have responded with their own declarations along the lines of “I’m not Palestinian. I’m a human being. I am anti-Zionist.” But the volume and resonance of these defensive counter-tweets pale in significance compared to the growing tide of positive, unapologetic declarations of support.

The anti-Israel mob wants ‘Zionist’ – the belief that the Jewish people have the right to self-determination in their historic homeland – to be a word people whisper.

Over the past week or so, more and more people have been typing it out loud.
