Might Iran open an official diplomatic mission in Gaza? According to Memri, Palestinian Islamic Jihad’s representative in Tehan called on Iran to do just that:
“It would be a natural move for Iran to open an embassy or representative office in Gaza,” he said, adding, “Gaza is now a region almost free of occupation and Iran can have an active embassy in Gaza as it will have the same kind of mission in Egypt in future.”
Iran’s meddling in the Arab uprisings is fairly well-known by now.
But what kind of trouble could they cause in Gaza? Think weapons smuggling, combat training, intelligence gathering, diplomatic interference in Palestinian affairs, and more — right smack on Israel’s doorstep.
